Ok man. Whatever you say. There have been plenty of greats in her position that didn’t give up when it got tough. She could have watered down sets and still been enough to win.
The pressure doesn’t change, she’s been there multiple times. In fact she fell in 2016 and got back up to compete. Yes her routines are packed with difficulty, specifically vault. Beam and floor have tons of difficulty but there are several American women with close to the levels of difficulty and even past it on certain skills. The newest tumbling pass named after her is a triple double tucked, Jade Carey will be doing it laid out on floor finals.
That's awesome. You sound like you know about a billion times more than I do on the subject. People do change though over time. I know I have more anxiety than when I was younger. There are things that just get to me more now. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and trying my best to empathize with her and what she is going through.
It is absolutely a terrible situation. I do empathize with her individually, I also empathize with the rest of the team that was let down. I empathize with the athletes that were left off the team because they built the squad around Simone. There is a level of greatness that an individual can reach where they are immune to sympathy for their mistakes. If Jordan quit mid finals because of the pressure, he wouldn’t be Jordan.
Didn't Biles get finger raped by the team doctor? Is she the only one left on the team that suffered that?
Don't know much about gymnastics. Kind of lean towards cmoak after reading the discussion here. Is Simone done in this Olympics or does she still have individual contests left?
She has event finals and all around finals left. From what I’ve heard, she’s spooked. Not sure if she’ll compete or not. She has what’s called the “twisties” happens a lot in the sport. Basically the yips but only way to get out of it is push through.
nah. Tracy never got out of the first round. Biles has been undisputed since she discovered leotards.
I'm certainly is odd for a gymnast to win literally every major event they could for 7 years, including the Olympics, and then get hit by nerves. These olympics we're just cherry on the top for her career, a glorified victory lap.
