Poll: Getting Down to the wire, what would you prefer we do?

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by Shark44, Jul 17, 2021.

?

Here's your options, purely as a Rox fan which 2 choices are your preference?

  1. Stay at #2 Draft J. Green

  2. Stay at #2 Draft E. Mobley

  3. Stay at #2 Draft J. Suggs

  4. Trade up to #1 Draft C. Cade (No matter the cost)

  5. Trade down to #3 or #4 for additional draft capital in coming years

  6. Trade #2 plus other assets for a young star (e.g. Kat)

What numbers might say on the comps.

Not hyping this as gospel by any means, but someone did an interesting comp just by going off draftee's college/g-league stats to nba player's college stats. Cutting out the hype / opinions.

    A stats only projection model.

    video included.

    tl/dr screen version

I really have no idea. I trust Stone to make the right decision.

frankly, I don’t think we can go wrong here. All 3 of Cunningham, Green and Mobley could be #1 picks in other years.

I believe it’s entirely possible Mobley is the best center prototype of the modern era. He is a better prospect than Wood right now, and I love Wood.

Greens potential as a scorer literally leaps off the screen. How much can he improve the other parts of his game? I don’t know, but the potential is there.

Cunningham is super polished and works in basically any lineup you put together.

I wonder if there’s some recency bias in all the people arguing for Mobley. I see what they are talking about, but the chance he gets there is low. Still, skilled big man that you can’t force off the court with small ball are basically the holy grail of the modern NBA.

Let’s hope Stone knows how to parse all this out.

If the reports of Mobley not wanting to be here are true (he did turn down a workout) I'm not even sure why he is still being discussed.

I liked him and would have been ok with any of the top 4 guys. But not anymore.

Not wanting to be here is kind of a big deal.

lmao if Mobley turns into Bosh and Green turns into Buddy Hield with big dunk, the Green fan boys are still gonna do a victory lap

I don't think Green will bust, but some of the superstar comp is reaching. With this current showing, he seems more like a Ben Gordon. A good scoring specialist, who can have a lengthy NBA career. I just don't know if we should spend a #2 pick on one.

I don't necessary count the big media outlets, but even the smaller ones even; they're looking at us side eye o_O; little puzzled as to why Rocket-sphere seems to overwhelmingly choose Green, when Mobley has been on more #2 draft board a month ago.

The outlets are putting Green #2 now, because they look at Rockets media too, and if Rockets seems to lean Green, they might as well put Green in that slot, so the #3 / #4 pick is more realistic for CLE and TOR. As opposed to actually ranking best to worst.

Clutch and Bimathug were slightly more Mobley. Jackson on Locked on Rocket was more Mobley until a changed his vote few weeks back.

Stone should pick who he thinks is best I guess.

Our last season wasn't just bad ya'll it was approaching historical bad. If it wasn't for vets injection of Olynyk and Augustine, we be setting more worst records. If all sides equal, how do you not pick someone who can improve our defense.

If it ends up being Green, he better carry us in scoring, even if we're a bottom team next year, I don't want Rockets to be setting some record like worst NBA season of all time b.s.

No way Detroit goes from the number one pick to number 23 when they can get a potential Superstar. Remember, they'd be acquiring those unprotected first picks to try to get the best player possible. Why not do that when you can get the best player in the draft this year? It takes two to tango.

Just having some fun. I don’t think Detroit is as close as they think they are so delaying the future another year for more assets is a gamble but I appreciate and get your point!
