Thought this could use it's own thread? Astros get: Kendall Graveman Rafael Montero Mariners get: Abraham Toro Joe Smith Tags and others have it on Twitter
Graveman is a rental so I would rate this trade a B-. Another thing to think about is they shed some salary to make another trade and stay under the tax.
Great trade IMO Graveman has a sub-1 ERA in 33 innings this year. Not only does he immediately become the Astros second-best reliever, but this weakens Seattle too. Toro had some fun moments here, but with Bregman and Diaz coming back, he doesn't have much of a role, and I don't see him being pertinent to any long-term plans. Getting rid of Smith (and his contract) is clutch too.
mlb tonight is basically saying seager is probably gone now and on the move, and toro is now their 3B going forward. buuuut at the same time saying if you're a mariner fan you're like wtf lol
Gonna miss Toro like I missed Teoscar. Would feel better if 'we' had sent out Raley along with Toro so that Dusty isn't tempted to use him every f'ing tim.
Mariners fans can't really gloat anymore about that comeback loss yesterday. I'll take fleecing them in a trade for losing one regular season game.
I like it. Toro is blocked by Bregman. Hopefully Perez can surpass what Toro has been. Graveman has been a stud and is exactly what we need. Also, by salary dumping Smith it makes me think we aren't going over the tax so no Scherzer, Bryant, etc...
