I think there's a reason Kuminga slid while Jalen didn't. I still like all of the top 3 guys, not as high on Suggs. But if Cade is there at 2 the Rockets will be running to the podium to get that pick in.
The idea of Detroit passing on Cade doesn't make sense. At the very least, they could swap their pick with the Rockets for #2 plus some asset, even if it was just one of the Rockets' late first-rounders. Why would they take anyone besides Cade when they could have that same player and an asset?
Agreed, that is outrageous to not listen to the offer for SGA + 6 for Cade. I just have a hard time believing Cade will end up being a better player than SGA as he is only 23 and still improving and has shown major strides. I get that paying him the Max may be the deal breaker but to act like SGA + 6 is not enough for Cade is outrageous. SGA seems destined to be a top 20 player soon if he stays healthy and continues to get better talent around him.
If Cade is there then you take Cade and continue rebuilding around a core of Cade, KPJR, Christian woods, Jaesean tate, Kmart Jr. Trade Wall and Gordon
I mean they should. It's not about being the next lebron or Zion. He's clearly the best player in this class and has an extremely high probability of being a damn good player regardless if he's not the next lebron If it was the Rockets #1 and they were acting the same way, folks wouldn't be saying stop acting like he's the next big thing.
Lol. You sir....would never be a GM.....not even in a video game. You take Cade in a heart beat and dont think twice about it.
either there’s something in his medical that none of us are aware of, or something is seriously wrong with their FO/ownership group that they would rather trade him than pay him…or they really think Cade is the next Luka
The only reason i can think of is that they still expect to be ass for the next few years (keep in mind that ending up with a guaranted top pick isn't as easy as it was when they got Harden, Russ and KD), and even if they extend Shai, there's a chance they'll still be a mediocre team in 3/4 years, and at that point Shai will probably ask out or bolt in free agency so, they might just prefer to have their core more under control overall, just like they did years ago.
there's been no real indication that SGA is not in okc's future plans, which by the looks of things he is. And there's no indication that they won't match when he's a RFA.
lol it might be due to the amount of coffee I've consumed but I would do this if it's allowed under the CBA: 1. Extend and trade for SGA, making his cap hit $33.5 million a year, with the #6 attached 2. Send OKC #2, #24 and John Wall
Last time we drafted this high was in 1984, draft picks today are even harder to come by therefor are worth more and it may be another 20 years before we get another pick this high and some of ya'll want to trade it? For who SGA? Huh? If Detroit passes on Cade, they wont thou... But if they do, you take Cade, 100% every day even on Sunday... You don't give Cade to OKC for a player that is clearly not in their future and a lesser pick. You don't gift a potential franchise player for the sake of making a trade.... Stupid, we don't need to trade.... We somehow got extremely lucky in getting this number 2 pick, it could have been way way way worse... We need to value our pick, value who we pick and value who we have....
I took a look at OKC’s roster, and they have a LONG way to go in their rebuild. Their only notable players as far as a real core are: SGA — 23 year old cornerstone Lu Dort — 22 year old role player Darius Bazley — 21 year old role player That’s really it. Why pay SGA a max when you’re still 3-4 years away from competing again? Makes sense for them to get Cade, and bottom out again the next couple years for one or two more top 5 picks.
Tilman wont match, nothing Tilman has done in the past when it comes to paying players hints at Tilman matching. He is actually truly a penny pincher or he wont match unless he feels the players in without a doubt worth it and a young star, assuming he means what he said about building this team up right.
OKC had the lowest payroll in this league this year. If a 23 y/o who averaged 24, 5, and 6 on excellent efficiency is someone u won’t pay and doesn’t fit your timeline then Idk what to say. At some point you’re just cycling through young players.
