No kidding. The guy hasn’t pitch in 3-4 weeks and you put him in a high leverage situation like this. Dusty don’t deserve to win today’s game.
I didn't like Baker pulling Garcia with 8-6 lead with 2 outs and 0 on. Let him finish it..... now Mariners going to retaliate tomorrow, or the day after.
This loss is on Dusty !!!!! Raley has no business in this game. Why not pitch your all star closer there. Is Ryan hurt?
C'mon now, they ain't worth hating. Now our bullpen.... they're worth hating. Of course the idea that our BP had a snowball's chance in hell of holding a 2 run lead over 4 innings is laughable.
Dusty likes Raley because he’s apparently better with men on base…. Until he’s not. All the Astros bullpen pitchers have had hiccups this year (other than Pressly), but have also featured some stretches of consistency. The only thing Raley has been consistent at is his inconsistency. At the very least, there is no reason why he’s being given higher leverage opportunities than Taylor.
Pressly pitched 2 days in a row. He wasn't available. It could have been Smith to start the inning and who wants that?
Well, he did succeed in his last high leverage situation (the ridiculous save in Cleveland, where they popped up the bunt), and I thought then it would be problematic for Dusty giving him future appearances in similar situations… now you hope the reverse holds true.
Dusty was managing the game as if he was going to pitch Pressly in the 9th if they had a lead. He’s pitched 3 days in a row as recently as last month. It’s not ideal, but its Dusty. Maybe another secret benefit of Dusty/Raley blowing it.
That bullpen is a glaring hole. Hard to ignore at this point if you're the GM and serious about making a return to the ALCS
