Analytics are important, but they aren't everything. Morey couldn't figure that out. Stone does trust Eli a lot. Eli is the analytic guru currently. Don't hate Green if he develops into a future star for us.

Cool, thanks for the response. You could be absolutely right!

I just remember hearing a team had given him a promise and thinking it only made sense to be us, since a draft promise is only worth something if a player is expected to be available for that team. Only 2 teams that would be able to give that kind of promise are the Pistons and Rox, and since it clearly wasn't the Pistons it would've had to have been us.

I know Dion Waiters was given a promise years ago to Cleveland and he dropped the rest of his workouts (so they absolutely happen), and the fact that the other top prospects didn't even meet after that rumor would make sense. But again, just me trying to piece together info that could be totally false! :D

Jalen, do not let them take you to Landry's. Do not go to Landry's for dinner. Pleeeeeeeeeeease.

I don't even know if Fertitta would be that dumb.
"Tilman, we'll take him to Landry's."
"What? Do you want him to get sick? Go to Saltgrass, and up the portion size."

I haven't heard about this.. Where did you read that the Rockets' analytics team doesn't favor Green?

    Thanks

That same guy said the Pistons are enamored with Green and the Rockets are keen on Cunningham.

Why would I hate Green? Future star or not?

I won't blame Green for being the pick, just like I didn't blame Marcus Morris when Rockets picked him.

Again, CF just cannot comprehend that my preference for Mobley is because I believe he is the best choice for team success, it's about winning.

I am a Rockets fan first and foremost.

Posters complain I post too much content.

This is THE reason why - posters always ask me same questions over and over.

But always willing to oblige the community.

So am I. Evan Mobley isn't my choice, because I believe he doesn't handle physical contact well. Green does. Mobley is the more skilled player. I will support Evan 100 percent if he becomes a Houston Rocket on July 29th.

    Uh oh!
    We can't draft Green now!

Look at that picture of him next to KPJ.
Green can't be more than 6'1''-6'2'' tops!!! :p

As skinny as Mobley may be, Green is actually skinnier.

Green is a contortionist extraordinaire but he does not get to the FT line very much.

Mobley averages 6 trips to FT line, Green averaged 2 trips.

But it doesn't matter Rockets have made Green a guarantee, Green will be the pick.

Again, CH44 NEVER made any sort of mention of KPJ and I tried to debunk that as soon as the other poster said it so that misinformation wouldn’t spread. There has been much speculation about why Mobley refuses to workout for the Rockets and this is just another unsubstantiated yet plausible idea.

    Agreed, this is my speculation.

But I'm using as much inductive reasoning as possible.

Feel like all this Green chatter is just a smokescreen by Houston so Detroit can't trade back to 3 and still get Green.

Puts all the pressure on Detroit to trade with the Rockets and not risk it.

If accurate, part of that might be that it's really hard to use data to analyze what Green's G league performance should mean in a historical context since him and the other Ignite guys are the first to do this. We have a good idea of what doing X in the NCAA at X age kind of means. Models probably have less of an idea of how to make sense of what an 18/19 year old's performance in the G League going straight from high school should mean.

Hollinger likes Green less than a lot of other draft analysts and acknowledged this might be driving it.

This is an instance where traditional scouting probably means a little more.
