Was about to say that i didn't like this trade for Memphis (cause basically they traded the best player and contract in the deal just to get a mediocre 2022 pick), but if they can trade up again and get rid of Bledsoe maybe it's a good move. While i think Adams is a worse player than Vala, he's probably a better fit for their frontcourt, cause he'll not demand the ball and will let the young guys have their possession and develop more.

Also, personally i'm not really sold on Jaren Jackson so, i think they really need to make some moves in order to secure another prospect with all star potential to put next to Morant, they really can't go all in yet, that's probably why they basically said "screw cap space".

No clue about CWoods value around the league but he is on a good contract. Part of the uncertainty is Woods never having played a full season and not being part of a winning team.

Regarding the contracts MEM took in. Bledsoe is a bad contract at 19million, though he is pretty much an expiring one. His following season (22-23) is partially guaranteed for 3.9 million. Adams is also a bad contract with 2 years and 35 million left. 1 late first rounder + moving from 17 to 10 seems like a ok but not great compensation IMO.

Sorry, I meant Eric Bledsoe, not Ish Smith @ElPigto

I don't want to get rid of Wood either, but the Rockets really need to think quickly about what they want to do with him, if they think he can be a cornerstone for the franchise just keep him and commit to the inevitable max contract (i suppose at least), otherwise, this might be the best moment to trade him, his contract is good, the hype is probably still there, and a lot of teams with good picks and young players have their assets available, some of those are specifically looking for a center too. Personally, i would trade Wood if there's a good deal available, but it has to be centered around something pretty good (7th pick/Wiseman...4th pick...stuff like that)

Gordon + 23 or 24 for the 13th would pick a pretty good trade for the Rockets imo, maybe for the Pacers too, not sure the Warriors would do that though, unless they can move Wiggins here or to another team (good luck with that).

Seems bizarre for Memphis. Jonas is the best player in the deal, and the Adams/Bledsoe contracts are bad. I think they could have gotten more than they did.

I'll give them this: they're willing to pay a steep, steep steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep price to move up in the draft.

I have been also wondering about GSW taking EG and pick 24 for pick 14 + a player to match salary. I would think they would be interested.

There goes my idea for the Rockets to move up to 10. Rockets didn’t have a player as good as Val to offer though.

Good choice for Nola then, rolling the dice on their younger players.

How does Valacunius fit with Zion?

    This is weird.

Especially if you think what Orlando got back from Chicago for Vuc (Wendell Carter and two 1st rounders, one in this lottery and one in 2023 which will be only top 3 or 4 protected if i remember well), which is pretty much the same player as Vala, with just one more year of control. I do think Vuc is overrated and that the Bulls overpaid, but still...

Not great since Vala is still a center that likes to play in the paint, but at least he can shoot the 3 unlike Adams, so that should still give Zion a bit more space to operate.

Regardless, it feels like it was more a swap to get out of Adams contract for NOLA, Vala is expiring so, they might resign him if he works well with Zion, or (more likely) just let him go to have more cap space in 2022 or use his expiring deal for a trade later in this season. I've read a piece few days ago about how Griffin also loves Jaxson Hayes, to the point were he apparently asked coaches candidates he inteviewed before signing Willie Green about if/how they were planning on us Hayes going forward so...maybe they already know who's going to play center for them going forward.

I dont like this trade for Memphis.
They take 2 bad contracts to move up 7 spots in the draft and a meh 1st.
Nice trade for NO, even better if they fet Lowry. We have here a new playoff team.

JV was better than Cwood last year. It wasn't even close. JV was putting up 20 and 20 and carried my fantasy team to the championship.

Does JV really fit into the Grizzlies' long term plan? He's going to be a free agent after this season.

IDK..... seems like both teams overpaid to get what they wanted.
