I'm not a Mobley hater, in fact I think he's got some real promise--early on as a rim protector and later as a very talented New Age all-around 4/5. However, like you I worry about injuries for the bigs, but that can unfortunately be a factor with every player. Where I lean Green is he's like the Flash incarnate, dude has ELITE athleticism combined with electric 3-level scoring. I won't pout if we draft Mobes or trade for Cade, but Green just seems to be special.

All of these players have areas for improvement, but every draftnik normally over criticizes their weaknesses.

I think this is reasonable. if they want a second lotto pick to get the deal done (like Atlanta got for trading Luka). trade some low level picks like the heavily protected Detroit and Washington picks, or the 23/24. IMO those late round picks, the odds are so small that they even become a starter, but we're trading them for someone with such a high floor that we know what we're getting and we probably aren't giving up anything that turns into anything.

Shams news coming from the Detroit camp, Woj news sourced from the Houston camp. It’s quite likely that Houston is probably the only team able to trade for the #1 pick. So sit tight and wait. I don’t even think the Rockets wish to offer them a lottery pick lol.

I think you bring up some interesting points for a Cade trade. If our scouts and GM believe he is really key to supercharging the rebuild, then spending ancillary picks may be worth it.

Personally, I love Cade's size and skills, but when I watch his games he's usually getting off shots with guys draped all over him, which makes me wonder if he will be able to do that as well in the NBA? He'll likely have more space in the NBA, so it shouldn't be an issue, yet I might not give DET a treasure trove of 1st rounders for him... I agree with what you laid out.

In other years, Green and Mobley could easily be the #1 guy, so it's tough to give up too much for Cade (in my mind at least). This draft also appears deeper than recent ones, which should elevate every pick's value somewhat (at least I hope we make that point).

I think you're right in judging where shams and woj got their leaks. pretty common for teams to negotiate through the media like this. definitely seems like they're talking to each other through shams/woj. definitely some truth under all this smoke.

I've already talked myself into green as the best player in the draft lol. so yes I tend to see cade's lack of athleticism, overhyped playmaking ability, etc... as I start to prepare to defend green v cade for the next 10 years. however, its also important to look at the other side of the argument. the high floor means less bust potential. I believe green's work ethic reduces that risk but then you still have to wait for him to become a playmaker and defender.

in the end as a fan I can only know as much as the reporters will report and the arguments they make which I may or may not agree with, but I'm not in the room with the rockets scouting or analytics department, I don't get to interview the players, I have my own full time job to worry about so at some point I just have to trust stone to decide if cade or green is better. and if its cade, I need to trust stone to have a better understanding than we do of how much is it worth giving up for him and when to walk away. I believe the right price, if you think cade is better, are all the lower value picks but none of the quality assets. some might disagree and say its too much, but I'd rather have the better player (if stone thinks cade is the better franchise cornerstone) and I'd sacrifice by future 6-8th rotation players to do it. I mean that's what those picks are, a chance at a future TMLE guy. very replaceable!

Just like the cringing wait to see if we would keep our pick, I'm getting hives of what Stone will be giving up to move to #1.

I think he should stay and take Green, but I'm going to trust Stone since he's steering the ship of this 2-3 year rebuild.

You can never over value wood.

You wait until you reach middle age. You’ll understand.

You reach a certain age, tears are all you have left to….no, no, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Detroit, can we have the #1 pick, please?

I think Cade will be better in the NBA than he was in college. If we get him, I’d be happy. I’m also good with Green or Mobley. The only stress I’m feeling about the draft is related to the opportunity for the owner to do something stupid like a Vikings for Herschel deal to get somebody like Dame.

I would only offer Detroit their 1st round pick and Washington 's 2023 1st round pick plus number 2 for number 1.
I'm sure they will want a lot more. I wouldn't go beyond that at any cost.

It is tempting to assume Cade is a can't miss prospect, because that is the the narrative being shoved down our throats. Take a second and remind yourself how many times an "obvious number 1 pick" has amounted to nothing.

Wouldn't surprise me if Suggs became the best player out of this draft.

Wood is too new to be sure even with a couple really solid NBA seasons under his belt, okay. What about Cade then?

Now that would ruin my Thursday night and would be very Texanseque.
Have to keep that 2nd pick or get the first if it's not that pricey.

And you realize that this discussion is not about Wood vs Cade? But rather Wood&Green vs Cade. Or Wood&Mobley vs Cade.
