You can't have the ones who would lie and protect Trump and cover up any involvement by his party being part of the investigation. It's hard to include those who defend Trump's part in the coup, because they would lie their asses off in typical Trump fashion. I wouldn't trust a single Republican who voted not to impeach that despicable con man. They are like a mob of power hungry lying traitors

Cillizza is naive. Team R, or T, would have anyone they wanted on the committee but decided to give Pelosi all that power. They were never interested. Cheney is pretty much the only R on the Republican side that wanted to get to the bottom of 1/6.

Too bad the Republicans voted against a true bipartisan commission

one party picking the other party's committee members is absurd and indefensible

So if Hillary Clinton ran for and got elected back into the Senate after Benghazi you would have been outraged if Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell veto'ed her spot on the Benghazi committee?

You do realize that Jim Jordan is literally a witness and potentially an active instigator of January 6th don't you?

You also do realize that there was a truly bipartisan commission that ALL of the Republicans in question voted against too don't you?

So what would YOU be happy with Commodore??? Please be clear here about what exactly you want because obviously you are saying to us otherwise that if Biden loses in 2024, you are okay with Biden holding an Antifa rally on January 6th 2025, and him and virtually all the Democrats encouraging and being in contact with Antifa members who then attack Congress violently in order to stop the vote counting to certify Tucker Carlson or Don Jr. or whatever Republican is voted into office that Antifa and the Democrat refuse to allow to be seated.

Do you realize the catastrophic nature to our Democracy that you are trying to whitewash? Obviously you don't care, and only care about your team gaining more and more power at all cost.

    your righteous indignation is noted

I would like for all the video footage of the event to be released to the public, as well as disclosure of any FBI involvement in the events of January 6th.

Anyone the parties select should be allowed on the committee, and they should be allowed to ask whatever they want of whomever they want.

You haven't explained what harm would come from Jim Jordan asking questions.

A bunch of people trespassed in the capitol. Code Pink has been doing that for 20 years. It was not a threat to democracy. Also, was this an insurrection?

So can you show me when code pink did this?

No seriously, show me Code Pink doing that.

Also part of the investigation is WHY these people were lead to believe that democracy ended effectively and an illegal usurper is about to be inaugurated with all legal recourse already spent meaning only violent recourse would be the only option to.... Save democracy.

Jim Jordan is a witness/suspect of that part of the investigation. He can't investigate himself.

Uh... you do know that the Republicans voted against a bipartisan investigation bill with equal representation picked by their respective leadership, don't you?

    Meh not really.

Republicans blocked one attempt at a commission.

Then they self sabotaged a second attempt to have a voice.

Pelosi gave them a chance to take this seriously and they declined.

    They did this to themselves.

Jim Jordan has a personal interest in obstructing an investigation just as Hillary Clinton in the Senate would have had in a Benghazi investigation. There’s no purpose of having the investigation in that case. I know you understand that which is why you have no comment on Hillary in that scenario, and are just walking the foxnews talking points to try and white wash and get people to look the other way.

How many police officers lost their lives or had to be hospitalized as a result of the Kavanaugh hearings? Had the protestors been successful in Congress voting down Kavanaughs nomination would that have had the same repercussions to democracy as a violent coup attempt where the insurrectionists in their own words were wanting to hang the Vice President?

I don’t think Trump knew what he wanted other than to stay in power someway but I do think Steve Bannon, Mike Flynn, and Roger Stone are three people with the ear of the president who definitely understand how these things work at least in other countries and while I doubt all three of them thought Mike Pence literally needed to be murdered, I do believe they understood that he needed to be exhiled from the process some way.

I think the goal of that day from Steve Bannon to Mike Flynn to whom ever else on the ground was to shut down the Senate and find a way to have the House be forced to call a 12th amendment vote in which then the Republicans could have legitimized a vote to overturn the election. Even if Roger Stone and Steve Bannon thought it would be unlikely to succeed is there anyone here who thinks they don’t think it would be fun to try?? That’s kind of their brand and is there anyone who think Trump is more likely to listen to people like Roger Stone than Mark Milley or even Kevin McCarthy??

What makes Trump dangerous more than anything is that fact. The delusion you fill his head with the more he’s into you.

I don’t know if the goal was really to murder Pence or not, but I take the mob at their word, and if the option for Trump is potential prison + defeat vs Pence dead + staying in power is their anyone here who thinks he’d choose to leave office??
