I really think you are wrong on this one. The ACLU gets involved when it is an institutionalized thing like a prayer before a football game or a prayer before homeroom class. Students have been setting up their own religious groups in schools without being censored or even reprimanded. The entire argument is whether the speech (prayer or political) is endorsed by the school or simply stated by the student. In this case, the student's poem was completely appropriate whereas the principal's statement (complete with a military guard no less) was absolutely inappropriate.
