Anyone else have high or low arches? Wear custom orthotics? I am finally going to trade in my podiatrist for a better one. He's Captain Mediocre. It's bad enough when you have a one-patient-every-fifteen-minutes sort of doctor but then he also got rid of his receptionist and so he does everything on his own. Even less personalized attention than before. Tired of dealing with on-again off-again foot soreness. Could be mechanics, could be one leg longer than the other, could be my gait, could be that my feet have changed and I need new casts made for my feet....but foot soreness is tiresome, tiresome.
Find a small running shoe store in which the owner actively participates. As them for podiatrist recommendations.
My wife works at an orthopedic foot and ankle clinic, if you have even the slightest arch problems, an orthodic will make a world of difference. Totally worth the money. Same principle with mattress or a work chair. Anything you spend *that* much time on is worth the money to buy something really nice,
I agree 100% I ordered 2 pair of custom orthotics a year ago and it made a huge difference! I went to a podiatrist originally, but they were charging wayyyyy too much. I ended up ordering from this place and got 2 pair of the custom orthotics for less than the price they wanted for 1 pair. Definitely consider spending a bit more on custom orthotics vs store insoles. This is the place i got mine from. They are local https://www.urthotics.com/
I have a recommendation for a good podiatrist, but don't have any insight into high/low arches and custom orthodics.
