Who are the Booker/Giannis talents in the draft? Green? Cade? Jones? Mobley? Don’t forget that Zeller was drafted ahead of Giannis. IMO, Kai Jones will have a better career than Mobley. Green and Cade could go either way, and they could also both pan out.
Rockets taking Jalen “Zach LaVine Devin Booker Bradley Beal Kobe Bryant Michael Jordan” Green aka the Green Mamba. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
How about this for a thread idea. If the Rockets draft Green or Mobley and they look like a promising player. Then the Rockets get a top 2 or 3 draft pick again next season. Do you think the Rockets should go all in and try to trade for another top 3 pick? Meaning trade like 5 picks for it and a few young players. KPJ Green Tate 2022 top 4 pick 2022 top 4 pick
Chet Holmgren is definitely a project. Paolo Banchero should be NBA ready. There’s a point where you have to think about these guys’ contracts and their age. Eventually, you just start looking like an NBA G-League team endlessly. As much as I like being a young team, too young won’t really win chips. You have to envision a timeline of 2024-26 to hit the playoffs with young guns and some key 3 and D players as veterans in the mix. I hope Wood is a part of that core, especially if he continues to improve his left hand and adds muscle. Next year’s draft will get us a top 3, and #30. We really want to push for Detroit to win so that we can get that lock sooner rather than later, but trading it back to them to move up seems like a hopeful scenario. If they get Cunningham or Green, I wish them a quick rebuild.
Having options is a nice thing to have. I didn't care for the returns on Westbrook and Harden trades; but it works out well if the Rockets don't have to use any picks to move Wall or Eric Gordon albatross contracts. Just getting by this year and getting to the point where those contracts become more appealing as expiring contracts or easier to consume. I would target a player like Scottie Lewis in the second round in anticipation of John Wall being disruptive and asked to stay at home. No cancer in the locker room needed as Kevin Porter and the #2 pick try to establish themselves. Being a ball hog by Wall is a big concern towards delaying derails the learning curve of our young players. Many losses will come with or without J Wall. Even errors or mistakes by Green/Mobley are welcomed as they start getting use to the competition at the NBA level and they begin learning from their mistakes. Both Green and Mobley are going to face bully-ball immediately... let's let them work on their offensive game as a means of staying on the court initially. Figure out where the help defense is coming from, rotations, opposing teams plays, opposing players go to moves or spots on the floor they like to shoot from. Those types of things.
Which one of the draftees is going to gain the weight to bully the league? Usman Garuba? Sengun? Bassey? Day'Ron? Im not sure either Kai Jones or Mobley are going to put on that much mass. Giannis is an outlier. Who has his heart in this draft among the bigs?
I dont remember who here keeps calling him "Thriller" but I love that nickname for our new Rocket superstar Jalen Green. Someone faceswap Jordan in the Jam video with Michael Jackson but also swap Jordan's torso with Bradley Beal and the arms for Zach Lavines and the legs and shoes for Adidas Kobes. I hope he shows up to the draft in a Smooth Criminal suit.
Not only does he have the young Michael Jackson looks, he's got the Thrilla in Manila connection being half Filipino Also acceptable: Green Mamba. Young Jordan was once The Black Cat so The Green Cat is acceptable.
