My sister's graduation from the UT Social Work Master's Program this weekend.

    a. She's officially in the real world
    b. I get to go to the best city on the planet for the first time in a year
    c. I officially become the least educated member of my family, with my crappy B.S Computer Sciences degree. :(

I am looking forward to the blues trip I am making in July/August with my harmonica playing bandmate from the blues band I play in. We plan on renting a car, driving from Houston to West Helena Arkansas (to visit the Sonny Boy Williamson sites), then on to Memphis for a couple of days, then down Highway 61 through the Delta to the Crossroads, and then over to New Orleans for a couple of days on the way home. Should be fun.

I am also looking forward to recording a CD with this band in the fall.

Short term...I'm looking forward to having a three day weekend this weekend and a four day weekend next weekend.

I am the black sheep of my family for many reasons, one of which is the fact that I am the only one without a graduate degree.

finishing our soon-to-be kick ass washers pit in the backyard. it's gonna be nice. i'll post a pic when it's all done.

other than that...... graduating a year from now. unless i decide to go to grad school, i really have no idea what i'll be doing afterwards. and although i'm ready to be done with school, i'm not ready to give up my current lifestyle - that of the lazy, drinking and smoking, floating the river, fully funded by the folks lifestyle.

I absolutely rock at washers. I've been the family champion for years.

You use 21' centers? Solid washers or regular?

Coach my son in baseball this year, his first with live pitching. He's the fastest kid his age and has a great arm for his age. Taking him and his sister on a camping trip.

Taking my daughter fishing with me on Lake Lanier. She already baits her own hook when we fish in our lake at home. Now we're going to hunt the bigmouths.

Get my old '79 Trans Am running. Today I put back in the interior after the car came back from the paint shop in Darth Vader black and the VDO gauges will arrive shortly. I've already put the '78 nose on the car and the Firechicken decals are still on back order. With an LT-1 out of a 95 Corvette, bored out to 363 cubic inches with a ton of work done to it already, the car may be able to give the old Porsche a run for its money. I'm doing it the same as the Bandit's car from Smokey and the Bandit, down to the CB and the old Georgia state flag tag on the front. Pictures will follow. If my son does what is required of him in school (he has made the honor roll every semester he's been in school), the car will be his on his 18th birthday AFTER he goes to performance driving school. No way am I trusting a 500+ hp car in the hands of a youngster sans training.

Finish pressure washing our drive. Get my preview package done for the Falcons before deadline. Read a couple of books this summer. Log some more hours in the air. Doing our live broadcasts of the radio show from Flowery Branch during training camp. Catch some big specs and reds off Mobile Bay. Shoot a round of golf on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Going back to Houston to visit my grandparents in early July.

Where are you majoring in Sports Administration, and is it a common major throughout other universities/colleges?

Would absolutely love to do this once I'm done with my own major.

Here at San Diego State University, they are starting a new MBA program with a Sports Administration emphasis.

I guess they are accepting about 20 people and the SD Padres organization is helping them run it and giving jobs to 5-10 of them and helping the others find jobs with other professional organizations.

I've always wondered about the jobs situation if you major in something like that. It really seems like most or all positions are about who you know, and I don't know anybody.

yep. we were gonna go with the 25' "official" distance, but we decided to go with the more texas traditional 21' (give or take a few inches). the pits are 5'x3' with a 4" hole. in the pits, we put down a layer of weed mat, then rocks/gravel, then another layer of weed mat, then finally sand level to the hole. using regular washers of course. the coolest part is in between the pits. we're filling it in with a crushed redish granite w/ a texas-shaped stone in the middle. on either side of the texas stone will be the letters of our fraternity. washers is pretty popular amongst the brothers.

this puppy should be done by sunday at the latest. i'll post the completed product. glad to hear other folks play washers round here. i'm not that great, but that should change by the end of the summer :p
