It's true of me. It wouldn't matter a jot who emerged from the DNC primary; I will vote against Trump. But I know humans. Some people who came out in 2020 and said 'we have to get Trump out of office at all costs' will have flip-flopped by 2024. They'll say dumb stuff like how Trump has been chastened by his election loss, how the Democrats have gone too far and now we have to protect ourselves from the communist Kamala. Some of those 70 million voters who looked like allies of mine in 2020 are actually people who were only temporarily won with propaganda and can be lost the same way. Also, as you say, turnout and division. I'll add disestablishmentarianism.
I don't believe America is stupid enough to elect Trump again, if he runs it will be a disaster for the GOP again, he is a loser. Lost the House, the Senate and the Presidency - the MAJORITY of this country see through his crap. DD
It's certainly possible Trump could win in 2024 I don't think it's likely whether it's Biden or Harris he's facing. Incumbency carries a lot of weight and is one reason why we've had very few one term Presidents since Hoover. Four years can be a long time in politics but given how polarizing Trump is I doubt many forget what he had done. Trump himself will make sure we remember how much of a mess and chaotic his Presidency.
I like how "civil war between Republicans and Democrats" scores higher than the more basic premise "there will be a civil war." Folks, you can have B without A, but you cannot have A without B.
31% of Republicans believe that the US will become a communist dictatorship in 10 years. These people are imbeciles.
A former soldier who is federally charged with lying in his application for a security clearance said he enlisted in the Army so he’d be “more proficient in killing” Black people, prosecutors allege. Killian M. Ryan, who was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, held the rank of specialist and served in the Army until Aug. 26, a spokesperson with the XVIII Airborne Corps said in a statement Thursday. Ryan “was separated from the Army for serious misconduct,” the statement said. An affidavit filed Aug. 25 in U.S. District Court for Eastern North Carolina alleges that Ryan had online ties to people whose social media accounts were “associated with racially motivated extremism.” The affidavit, written by a Fayetteville police officer on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, also alleges that Ryan posted his motivation for joining the Army on an Instagram account. "I serve for combat experience so I'm more proficient in killing n------," he is alleged to have said. Ryan also had five Instagram accounts in which he communicated with extremists who were motivated by racial animus, the affidavit said. The Airborne Corps spokesperson said that the FBI informed the Army that Ryan was under investigation earlier this year and that the Army cooperated in his arrest on Aug. 26. @Rocket River
they actually believe they have all the guns and they actually think the military would go along with their Civil War
Why do I get the impression that a very significant number of the respondents approached this poll with a feeling of whimsical lunacy brought on by an excess of ignorance?
Unsurprising Alot of Cops feel this way too Small people like to get into positions of authority or join various groups to be powerful Rocket River
Too big to fail? Never been an issue before. - The Ancient Egyptians - The Ming dynasty - The Roman empire - The Ottoman empire - USSR Just for fun: - The Titanic No political system on Earth has lasted forever. We'd be foolish to believe this is the one that will.
The country has already shown it's "stupid enough," DD. It was stupid enough in 2016, with evidence of it here when we saw otherwise intelligent Americans give an example of how Democrats and Democratic leaning independent voters spent an enormous amount of time attacking Hillary Clinton, a deeply flawed candidate who ran an awful campaign, yet was vastly superior to trump as events later proved, and something that was perfectly obvious at the time. We consistently see evidence of it here today with otherwise intelligent Americans, @Os Trigonum being a perfect example, but far from the only one, spending an inordinate amount of time attacking Biden and his administration, the Democratic majority in Congress, and Democratic policies in general while largely ignoring trump, the incredibly extremist Republican party members in office sucking up to trump, the coup attempt on January 6th, and a host of other extreme policies being pushed by the GOP. You are foolish, DD, with all due respect, if you truly think that trump, assuming he isn't too busy fighting to stay out of prison, or someone just as bad, or even worse due to being more intelligent, like DeSantis, can't get elected in 2024 and shove this country right into the strongman "democratic country in name only" column of countries like Hungary or Turkey. It can happen if Americans let it happen. The possibility certainly worries me.
Crap. Perhaps Marjorie Taylor Green is onto something with the Jewish space lasers. Now I'm more scared.
