Yes, this is why I prefer our home grown stars of Porter/KMjr/Wood (developing as a Rocket)
and adding Green. Then defensive minded combo guard for backup in the form of Duarte,
T Mann, Butler (if healthy), Scottie Lewis.

    Let the kids grow together!!

Multiple cheap contracts offsets the final years of the big contracts of Wall
and Eric Gordon. Passing of the torch from old to new. The neverending
story ends while a new one begins. Just my humble opinion.

*throw Tate in there as well as home grown young ones

Okay, no need to panic. No neeeeeeeeeeed to panic.

These stars tend to control where they go. Houston right now is just not sexy. Houston was hot a few years ago but now her ass is waffly and she's sporting cankles and crow's feet.

Remember our courtship of KD where he spurned us and we wasted our cap space on Ryan Anderson (who subsequently apparently did not enjoy being Harden's 3-point totem pole) and EGO (just not having fun).

I'll give them wall+ 23+24+ Pistons pick+ next years Brooklyn pick plus our pick with a top 5 protection. Take it or leave it, portland. That's five picks and a franchise player in Wall. line up..

    Mobley
    Wood
    Tate
    KP
    Lillard

That would be fine if this was a championship team. Dame is running out of time. He wants to win now.

One week away from a Wall+#2+#23+#24+all Brooklyn picks for Dame trade.

Fortunately, Damian Lilliard would never okay a trade to the worst team in the league. But that does tell you which direction the Tilman is leaning. Quick fix, short term thinking much more interested in making a buck than winning a championship.

Please explain what can Houston get out by being a facilitator.

True but as we've seen before those contending teams have little to no assets to offer. So Portland will get 50cents on the dollar. Morey would be dumb to not offer Maxey this time around

Yeah, but I want to retain the picks and draft well instead.

Damian Lillard will not be a rocket. It would be fun to see all the mental gymnastics we’d have to do to convince ourselves that we like him if he was though.

I would be willing to give them this and the 23rd pick.

They save a lot of money because Wall's contract is shorter.

Oh, no, His Royal Clutchness is legitimizing it.

I still say this amounts to due diligence only.
"John Wall, a cap scrub and the #2 for Dame and Covington. Tick tock, tick tock."

Sure, Lillard is 31 years old, but they'll get real offers. John Wall's corpse and the #23 won't cut it.
And, again, these guys tend to control where they go. Dame + Wood + Covington + Olynyk (maybe) + Tate et al........solid team, not great?

So, we've watched a guy do nothing in Portland his entire career.

And we want to bring him to an even worse situation?

Sigh.... sounds just like the type of thing Tilman thinks is smart.

I want nothing to do with this. You don't go all in on your first piece, you do it once you have pieces and feel Dame can put you over the top.

Also, the article talks about the value of having Dame locked up for 4 more years. That means squat these days, look how much it helped Portland. Players don't care about years left on their deal anymore. Completely stupid, Rockets are supposed to feel secure about keeping him for 4 years, after he gets traded by another team after demanding a trade.

If anything, I would try to trade them Wood for Covington and picks. It may be just enough to keep Dame happy.
