We're bombarded with contemporary images of women, often beautiful, to be sure. Yet these photographs brought to life, in the neighborhood of one hundred years old, remind us, if we needed reminding, that beautiful women have always graced us with their presence. A Greek statue of Aphrodite, an oil painting by a great master in the Louvre, or one of these preserved images, they all tell us how lucky we are to have them, and if we're truly lucky, to be close friends with one.
