Offensively yes, he is talented…..defensively will be the worst player in the NBA.

There is absolutely no chance you have done any actual tape watching of these kids. Quit projecting your negative energy on prospects you don’t like. Faried is in the CBA maybe you can find a place to discuss him on their forums.

I think Green should be the pick.

I think he has the best potential in the draft.

I think his ceiling is a Drexler type player.

I also think that either I will be made a fool, or those that I think have a fool's take right now will be made a fool.

Wasn't KmJ playing mostly as an undersized 4 and the 3 this season and only 8 starts? Why is he in this discussion as if Green reduces his playing time or takes his spot? Wouldn't Mobley do that since Tate would clearly get the start at the 3? I like dude a lot, but we Rockets fans have a ridiculous tendency to overrate our own players. Now we shouldn't draft Green who is going top 3 in a super deep draft because we already have someone was nearly undrafted just a year ago?
I was going to say that'd be like the Blazers passing on Clyde because they had a young Jim Paxson starting, but even he was a lottery pick and was scoring over 20 a game and a full time starter.
There's not a single player on this 17 win roster that would stop us from drafting any of the top prospects.

    Absolutely spot on.

In the NBA, talent trumps lesser talent. We had the worst record for a reason. Any of these guys would obviously be drafter over whoever is on the roster. If you think we're not going to draft someone because of someone else on the roster, you're kidding yourself.

Our best two prospects, Wood and KPJ wouldn't even prevent us from drafting someone. Wood hasn't shown that he can stay healthy, and I still hold my breath every time I hear someone has hope for KPJ. Hopefully that dude can keep his life in order, but you can't pencil that in as a given, unfortunately.

Is there even a recent track record of 2 guards busting this high in the lottery? It's mostly been bigs, some PG's like Fultz. or Flynn, while others have had solid careers but went too high. Some busts at the 3. Mostly, i feel like SG's taken high have a pretty high success rate and if they don't live up to expectations, they still have yearly SMOTY level careers. So even if Green turns out to be a Jamall Crawford, or an Eddie Jones, you aren't made a fool, especially if Mobley goes on to be a flat out bust as well. No one here is arguing for Suggs or anyone else, so if those guys are better in hindsight, oh well, it happens, but they were never options.

OJ Mayo definitely comparable in terms of hype. Although no where near the athlete, i do recall his high school hype as the next great. Tyreke Evans another who was off to a great start. Health, mindset and organization these players are drafted to makes a huge difference. I can see any of the top prospects busting in Cleveland or Orlando for example.

The motivation questions surrounding Mobley, and you put him in Cleveland of all places? Yikes.

For me while I'm ok with Mobley I'm leaning on Green for the following reasons:

    1. He can be the face of the franchise. Both Mobley and Green have franchise level talent but Mobley has some questions regarding his personality and motivation, he cant exactly galvanize people around him he seems more of an individual contributor. This team needs a new James Harden, and as we've seen in Kawhi led teams you need somebody passionate and fiery to be the leader otherwise you kinda mess up the chemistry. Ignite is a young ass team but Jalen and Kuminga both stepped up to become faces for that squad. In Mobley's he elevated his team's play but his dad was the coach and his big bro was his teammate. I dunno how he would fare without his fam around him.

    2. Longevity. We can see that big men are having shorter and shorter careers. Gone are the days of Hakeem and Kareem having 20+ yr careers nowadays big men are lucky to have 5 yr careers that are injury free. After that they usually end up dealing with various ****. Omer Asik, Porzingis, AD, Nurkic, Embiid etc hell even Wiseman and Okungwu got serious injuries their freshman year. Of course there are lots of injury prone guards too esp if they have mad hops but I can still see Zach Lavine having a longer career than Embiid.

    3. Floor and Ceiling. I feel like Mobley has a lower floor and higher ceiling. Of course both of them are top 3 picks so their floors are already pretty high but also by that logic there's no need to gamble anymore than necessary cuz Green is more or less a sure thing with insane upside. He is gonna be 6'5 Jordan Clarkson at worst, and thats still a pretty decent player. Mobley has some chance to be Thabeet. I mean sure its kinda low but it is there. Who knew Mo Bamba would turn out the way he did 3 yrs ago?

    4. GLeague. I feel like playing in a harder league vs grown ass men depressed Green's stats. Lots of people say if Green went to NCAA he'd be the consensus no 1. Thats not hard to imagine, if Max Abasamis scored 24.5 and aint even in the first round then surely Green can average 25 playing against non nba bound kids his age.

    5. Depth in the draft. There's lots of project big men who can turn out to be stars. Kai Jones, JT Thor, Roko etc hell even my new fav big man Filip Petrusev. Dude's a 21 yr old MVP in the euro league scoring 23 pts on 41% from 3 pt range. Green, Roko/JT Thor/Vrenz B and Filip? Hell yeah.

Is this where Fran Fraschilla's credibility gets slandered to fit narrative? What does he know about anything right?
