Never will be a good switch defender, cant depend on him in 55 system. Unless the 5 is dropping every time. Sengun shows great instincts and anticipation in drop coverage, and his steal, deflection and block rates bear that out.
never is a big word... and is to be used lightly and cautiously...hes only 18 and hes not an invalid or disabled person...i am sure if he dedicated he could become a passable switch defender.... expert also thought draymond will never be a good defender in the post or whatever ...how that worked out for them? btw what is system 55?
55 defense is switch everything. And while Sengun is underrated athlete he is not overly long or laterally explosive, so his upside to become a good perimeter defender is limited. Moves best in straight lines when exploding. But he has great anticipation, active hands, high IQ, great technique so he makes up for his physical shortcomings in other ways. Kid always has his head on a swivel and slides his feet too.
Sengun has not played at the Euroleague, his numbers at the turkish local league are impressive, but that level has nothing to do with euroleague's. Would have liked to watch him Euroleague games.
Neither did Jokic. And the mvp jokic won in the Adriatic league was a lesser league than the Turkish league. The current Euroleague champions Anadolu Efes is from the Turkish league, and Sengun played against them several times during his season(including a playoff series).
Mobley Wood Tate KP DJ Augustin (75 points from the starters very doable and much better defense than last year) The bench men (40 points from the bench!!!) Sengun Olynyk Martin Nwaba Brooks Honestly only the Rox know what they're going to do on draft night. Pretty fun stuff.
wow its a very intriguing team extremely fun to watch! just trade away johnny the ballhog and the chucker ego
I like his offensive game, especially the moves in the post. Bigs that can abuse mismatches in the paint is becoming a rare commodity in the modern NBA. The overriding issue however is - will he be able to stay on the floor on the defensive side of the floor. Teams are utilizing the high screen and roll more and more every passing year. This causes switches and mismatches to be ever more prevalent in today's game. Will he be such a liability on defense like a Kanter, Zubac, Adams, Ryan Anderson, etc when switched onto the Curry, Dame, Trae, Luka, Harden, Irving, etc that the coach is forced to take him off the floor. He needs to either be great offensively or at least average defensively in those mismatches to be able to stay on the floor in the playoffs or in meaningful games.
