Did you really ask this question? Thanks for letting me know how you judge basketball talent. Will use that knowledge accordingly. Also he is as good a passer maybe better.
And we should take the opinion of you, another random guy on the internet correct? You are smoking the purest form of crack, if you believe Mobley has anywhere close to the offensive skillset as Aldridge or Gasol. Get off of his dick.
Maybe, but that feels like a copout. "If he doesn't do well then it's because ______ developed him wrong." I mean, maybe that's true, but it's also true for nearly every prospect. It's also possible Mobley will just be a jack of all trades and master of none. In fact, that seems more likely to me. It feels like his peak is a 3rd guy on a contending team. For a #2 overall pick, I want more.
It is a serious question the two parts of the game they require the most skill are shooting and offensive moves. If he's worse than Gasol at that what is he better at him then. And no he's not a better passer than Gasol.
I'm not worried about his high butt on defense so much, but moreso on offense. His body type reminds me of Kristaps, who we saw be relegated to standing in the corner in the playoffs because he was too slight to score in the post, has insufficient handles to take anyone off the dribble, and isn't good enough at creating his own shot. (KP would have been benched if he wasn't a diva with a massive contract.) I fear we'll see similar issues with Mobley, since he has those same weaknesses.
Mobley does not have the same weaknesses, he has a much better handle and has moves off the dribble. Kristaps is a stiff compared to Mobley.
LOL Dude, is this serious question???? How many vids of Mobley have been posted on CF including complete games? https://www.welcometoloudcity.com/2021/5/26/22451782/nba-draft-scouting-evan-mobley https://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/2021/7/13/22564473/nba-draft-2021-evan-mobley-scouting-report
I haven't seen any videos of complete games. If they were posted then I missed them, but hey, I have a job, am in grad school, have 2 toddlers, and another kid set to arrive in the next few weeks. I don't have time to watch every single video posted here. If it's a tie game at the end of the 4th and it has become a possession game, what would Mobley's role be on offense? Is he the guy handling the ball and try to drive or pull up? Is he spotting up in the corner? Is he the roll man on a PnR (which is hard to execute in these situations)? I'm just trying to figure out what he's doing at the end of a meaningful game. For Green or Cade or Suggs, it's easier to envision. For Mobley, I'm not seeing what his role will be.
YES All of the above, he has that versatility in his bag. Recommend this article below with vid breakdowns. https://hashtagbasketball.com/nba-draft/content/scouting-report-film-review-evan-mobley Mobley's ability to attack off the bounce is impressive for his size and position. It will create a variety of options for his NBA team's offense. Besides getting to the rim off the bounce, Mobley has also shown promise shooting off the dribble. This season, Mobley scored 0.938 PPP shooting off the dribble (78th percentile). Additionally, Mobley scored 0.968 PPP (80th percentile) on jumpers within 17 feet and 1.04 PPP (90th percentile) on jumpers from 17 feet to the three-point line.
They must have missed him getting pushed out of place in college by duddrs nowhere near the size of nba 5's (oh wait, they didn't I've read multiple scouting reports discussing it) or the fact that he's not remotely quick enough to keep up with a starting PG in the nba. Laugh all you want, keep the receipts and when he debuts and doesn't defend 1-5 we'll at the nba level you can feel free to explain along with the "people who get paid" none of whom I've seen claim he's going to be coming in as a defensive rockstar guarding nba starters 1-5. Feel free to share those reports saying he will though, I'd love to see them.
And I feel you about the kids, work and school. Been there, done that. 5 kids, law school, work and a business. You got this man.
Just like Bam, AD or Giannis, Mobley can switch onto guards but he will not be tasked with guarding them all game long. Do you even basketball? Learn what switching really means.
I get it but in a draft where there are no obvious transcendent/generational talent getting a guy that has 2nd/3rd banana capabilities wouldn't be so bad right? It's not like we won't have future lottery picks to look forward to in the next 3-4 years. Could very well be a case of picking a 2nd/3rd banana like JJJ or John Collins only to wind up picking your alpha/Morant/Trae a couple of drafts down the road.
Looks like the analytics are on the Mobley side too https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...nternal-debate-of-evan-mobley-vs-jalen-green/
It’s taken me awhile to get to this point but here I am, Rockets need to draft Mobley over Green and especially Cade or they will regret it for the next 15 years. And it is not particularly even a close decision. I knew at the time of the lottery that the Rockets got blessed to avoid the #1 trap that is Cade, but it has taken me awhile to fully scout Mobley out. His median outcome is an allstar and top end is hall of famer. Do not screw this up Stone, you haven’t failed us yet. Yes nimrods frame this post in your moms basement next to my Marcus Morris take, I’ll be glad for you to remind me every year.
But it’s Mobley who’s ranked second on the draft boards of most executives, scouts, and draft analysts. He has the potential to be a multi-positional defender who can switch on the perimeter or anchor the paint, while also having flexibility as a scorer and passer on offense. To some scouts, Mobley is a can’t-miss prospect. https://www.theringer.com/2021/7/16/22579643/nba-draft-houston-rockets-cade-cunningham-jalen-green-evan-mobley
