He’s not getting a ton of attention, but I think this kid comes with a very large fan base already intact and a really nice upside. I also think the risk/reward at $1.5 million a season is easier to stomach. If the Rockets want to grow in the Brazilian market, this would be a solid get. We would have to trade a player for a second rounder or overpay at 24.
Weird thread. If we draft the best player available and that player happens to help us be more popular in another market, cool. But we should never draft players specifically to grow a market. The talent comes first.

The only mention of his ability was that he has some upside and it felt a little bit like an afterthought. Your focus seemed to be on his marketability. edit: literally just caught that you said Yao instead of you. Yao was the best player in that draft and happened to expand our market.
