It has nothing...NOTHING to do with relative merits. Hitler was subject to the same laws of nature as St. Francis. Caligula couldn't defy gravity any more than Gandhi. Osama Bin Laden won't live to 400, and neither did Martin Luther King. Reality affects us all, good or bad.

And the reality, as evidenced by our own records, is that these things happen. It's inevitable. Iraq is subject to the same failures in record keeping, etc. as we are, and whether we're better or worse then then has nothing to do with it.

So it's not about trusting Saddam, it's about trusting reality, and our ability to learn from it. This is why the experts on the subject, Kay,Blix etc. all acknowledge this.

Please try and maintain something of a pretense to objectivity.

Or should we be hunting high and low for Hitler, irrespective of the fact that he'd be 115 or so? I mean, he was evil, right? So we shoudln't TRUST that he'll die of old age like the rest of us, not unless you're saying he's as good as we were...

Let the records show that I called MacBeth a friend, and he retorts by calling me an idiot. A true sign of an argument lost... My points continue to stand. The case is closed on the argument. MacBeth clearly was defeated. Sorry to knock you off your perch in such overwhelming fashion, but somebody had to do it. When you try to base an argument on the credibility of a tyrannical, muderous dictator, take that dictator at his word with no proof, and then suggest that this recklessness and naivete is in the best interest of our nation's security, then you quite simply have no leg to stand on.

Again, the conservatives admit that we invaded Iraq because of improper paperwork. Great reason to start a war.

Yeah, the difference is that we will start a war because of paperwork issues rather than putting people in country once they are invited to ensure compliance.

We are supposed to be better than that, but with Bush and his cronies in charge, we are not. We will start a war based on "intelligence" that has been debunked and paperwork that is not properly filed. Maybe that is the kind of country you want to live in, but I prefer one where we do everything possible to avoid war.

I can see that they pro-war side are spinning this thing faster than a shell out of a howitzer.

We've heard this all before. Supposedly incontrovertible evidence of WMD is found only to be later discredited.

I suggest some patience on this issue before we can even say for certain this is WMD.
