I think Stephen A. Smith is off base here. I don't think anyone was that concerned what Yao Ming was saying while he was learning English. It's true that Otani would probably be more relatable if he spoke English but don't think it's that big of a deal. It's also not that big of deal that Stephen A. Smith said this. If you're looking for my opinion as an Asian I'm not offended or really care.

I think he was spitting truth. But the truth is also that if he was white with blue eyes and was named Bryce Harper the media would be telling you he was the biggest thing to ever play any sport ever in the history of mankind. Now that would be correct but not really a smart remark to make. Same applies to this. We should strive to accept differences and really treat each other equally.
