A 98-year-old actor best remembered for starring on F Troop in the 1960s is making his final public appearance Sunday, and he’s coming to New Jersey to do it.

Larry Storch will be honored at Wild West City in Byram in a ceremony starting at noon July 11. He has been an unofficial ambassador in recent years for the western-themed park, whose saloon is named after him.

“I was wild about that place,” Storch said when reached by phone last weekend.

Storch is planning to pose for group photos with fans following the ceremony. His manager, Matt Beckoff, said it will be the last chance for fans anywhere to see Storch.

“It’s his final gig,” Beckoff said.

Though it has been more than a decade since he had an acting role, Storch remains connected to fans via his Facebook page, which has 54,000 followers.

Storch said he is hoping to greet everyone who shows up to see him.

“I’d like to shake every hand. I mean that. I’m that grateful,” Storch told NJ Advance Media by phone from his New York City residence.

Storch portrayed the bumbling, hot-tempered Corporal Randolph Agarn on F Troop, a sitcom focusing on a fictional U.S. Calvary troop stationed at Fort Courage in the 1860s. His character hailed from Passaic, which for many viewers served as their introduction to the city. In 2016, Passaic returned the favor by inviting Storch, then 93, to finally visit the city.
