Why it needs to be Mobley...

Anybody know when the individual workouts are going to happen?

Looking at the games and highlights it just looks like Mobley will provide so much more to this team than Green will.

I would really like the rockets to be able to play small ball without being small. How long has it been since Houston wasn’t undersized against the vast majority of teams they faced? Yao and a bunch scrubs in the front court. Even less before that until you go back to Hakeem.

It seems like it would be easier to find scoring punch from the outside from other draft picks or free agency than it would be to find what Mobley provides. Looking at free agents in the next few years I don’t see any sneaky bigs in the that could make that kind of difference. Houston was fortunate to get Wood for what they did and have him actually produce. Can’t count on having a top 3 draft pick again so listing out the top 2 big men coming out next year shouldn’t factor in.

if Stone thinks Mobley projects to the NBA I hope that’s the pick that they make.

If Green was an elite playmaker(making his teammates better) like trae, luka, and harden, then he would be a lock for 1. That’s why most have Cade going 1, because of his playmaking. Green is the more exciting pick and would definitely be fun to watch though. I don’t think we “lose” either way.

The 2021 draft class review in a decade will be really interesting. Seems like a historically deep draft & a great opportunity for Stone (or any GM) to do some damage.

The more I I think about it, the pick at number 2 has to be Mobley. I like Green as well, so who knows. Both are solid options and Green is a bucket at SG. I just hope Stone goes BPA and doesn’t overthink it. No one is really talking about it (or him), but Scottie Barnes is a great young guard who could end up with this best career of the guard class. Lots of love for Green and Suggs, but Barnes is sized better at 6’8” with a 7’2.5” wingspan and is getting slept on a bit. His shooting should improve and he could be a steal for whoever nabs him. He’s probably not in play at the #2 pick, but who’s to say Barnes doesn’t have a better career than Suggs and/or Green? I don’t know...it’s a deep draft, lots of good young talent who should develop into good players, very exciting for the league honestly. I don’t know, maybe Green is the play. I just think you have to take Mobley. You can get guard scoring easily...Green is only feasibly the pick if we believe he will become above average at defense, passing, and the rest of the game, because it’s not just about scoring. Maybe Green is that guy...who knows. But I love everything about Mobley and think he’s the best odds pick.

For those people saying that USC freshman Evan Mobley's body isn't big enough, I refer you to Anthony Davis in his freshman year at Kentucky. Spoilered pics below. Bigs fill out later than guards, and Mobley is going to be a physical beast in the NBA, but also possessing rare athleticism and agility. This is an exciting prospect that can anchor our team for years. A no brainer choice, and quite possibly who I would select at #1 overall.

People comparing Mobley to AD, not mentioning how injured AD has been his whole career smh. Tall skinny bigmen get injured and take forever to recover. Just look at Christian Wood. Drafting a big over a bonafied superstar in Green will get someone fired

It's possible, we have no idea what the Rockets are going to do. My gut feeling is Green or Mobley will be packaged at Tilman's insistence with the 23rd and the 24th for a established star. Stone might prevail to prevent this with Silas' help, since it's highly unlikely that Zion or Luka will be available. Ja Morant is awesome, but he's not a big forward or center.

Jeff Van Gundy isn't sure if Evan Mobley has it in him to become a superstar on YouTube. He hasn't seen the Ignite players. JVG feels that's what the Rockets need from the draft.

Mobley has small and narrow shoulders, AD had a bigger frame to build muscle on. Evan isn't KG. Evan does have drive in him, he might prove me wrong and become a future all star. I don't know if he will take up the challenge against GA, JE, or KD on most nights.

Why don't they just extend the College 3pt line farther out to adapt to the NBA 3pt line so that we wouldn't have the conversation every year.....

I’m still team Green because of Mobleys demeanor, meh rebounding, need to improve shot meaningfully, and concerns about speed adjustment (he doesn’t have AD level college speed… a lot of it seems to be his high hips so it’s more of a galloping speed).

but it’s still only 60/40… green has problems too.

happy with and will root for either.

I have Scottie Barnes 4th btw.

    This has been debunked.

Everyone said exact same thing about Ralph Sampson.

Back when he was drafted AND EVEN ON CF IN PAST 3 WEEKS.

Fake news, don't fall for it.

    https://uproxx.com/dimemag/evan-mobley-usc-scouting-report-analysis-video-offense-defense-blocks/

Emphasizing any defensive shortcomings in the post is missing the forest for the trees, though. At his peak, Mobley will almost assuredly have achieved some strength gains to the point of his length, anticipation, body control and quick leaping mitigating any prominent concerns. Post defense matters, but it is not a headlining portion of defense, even for big men. And Mobley frequently applies his length to turn away entry passes, which, to some degree, should help mitigate the flaw.

The extent to which Mobley checks paramount boxes defensively is absurd. He protects the rim, he limits pull-up jumpers, he rarely fouls (2.1 per 40 minutes), he’s smart, he can handle various coverages, and he has distinguished physical tools. Cleaning up his consistency of contests inside and core strength are likely necessary to reach Defensive Player of the Year levels. Regardless, he’s going to be a terror, possessing high-end versatility and impact during an era that continually demands more from defenses.

I don't get the Jalen Green hype. Is really annoying me how everyone on here want him. Mobley, or Suggs are the real factor of this draft. They make their teammates better and will do everything to win. Jalen Green is a ball hogg, highlight chaser....

It appears that way to people who haven't examined Jalen Green carefully. He isn't a ball hog. He and Kuminga had good chemistry. Green is a shooter and scorer first, his passing skills are good. He wants to win.

The case can be made that he did NOT make Kuminga better.

True, but he's a traditional shooting guard, he's not going to make anyone better, and we shouldn't expect him to. His game is almost exclusively about his own scoring and nothing else.
