I admittedly did not watch much of last season, but is Wall done? Can he be serviceable at all for a winning team? Seems like KPJ taking over the PG duties is a matter of time, probably sooner than later, especially if we do draft Green (though I like Mobley as well). It obviously sucks to watch CP3’s massive success (though I’m really cheering for him and will always appreciate him/hate how things played out), and even Russ is playable...but is Wall done? Can he be serviceable or even above average on a winning team?
I EXPECT him to continue the current position of tank commander. Regardless of who we draft, we're trading E.G and running it back with an 8 man line-up of rookies, sophomores, and Christian Wood.
None. I have hopeful expectations that Raf can pull a miracle and trade his ass to some sucker team. If not, Tank Commander intiate and continue the tanking!
18-20 ppg, inefficient as hell, and selfish play as he fights to be the franchise player just get him outta here, he serves no purpose…not a leader or mentor, and will just soak up minutes, usage, and shot attempts
My expectation is he will get injured for most of the season. 44 million in 2022 and 47 million in 2023. Yikes.
"Just get him outta here," you say. I wish! Too bad Isiah Thomas isn't currently a GM on a team with cap space.
Spot on - he can play - but has no clue how to win. If he humbled himself and went to a coach or team with strong system/leadership - and took a backseat role he can contribute. But as a lead dog he is awful. DD
I expect he plays about 58-61 games averages 28 minutes & 18-7-3 while leading the team back to the lottery ....
I think we'd all like to see him moved elsewhere ..... but right now that contract is simply too prohibitive to do that without adding multiple draft picks and that's not something I'd be willing to do. It would probably take 23 & 24 to get him gone - You willing to pay that price in such a deep draft ?! Optimally you make that move at the trade deadline of 22/23 and actually get something of value for the $47m expiring contract,
We have the assets to move him now. I expect him gone by the trade deadline at latest. If you play him next year it’s to showcase him for maximizing the return (or minimizing the cost of moving him). As such, you let him play his game while he’s with you.
You'd have to imagine John Wall is benched most of the season until agreeing toa buyout. Either that, or there is some delusion of a 'run it back' line-up to try and make the playoffs (which will look ok on paper, but not work in reality)
This was, statistically, one of his worst seasons this past year. Its possible we seen the worst of Wall. Nowhere to go but up from here
It depends on his mindset. I think there is some parallel universe out there where he plays within himself, sets up his teammates and has a good season. However, I think he has been trying to do more than he is capable of for most of his career. Now that his health and athleticism are waning that has become a much more glaring problem. I hope Silas gets as much as possible out of Wall but I also hope he doesn’t baby him and is more willing to yank him for bad possessions this coming year.
