I'm guessing the Rockets are trying to clear some guards.... make some room for Jalen Green. ________________________________________________ Houston in: Aaron Holiday / Jeremy Lamb x Pacers in: Eric Gordon / Augustin / House ___________________________________________________ Works on Trade machine Both Lamb and Holiday are expiring contracts.....easy to sit at end of bench. Augustin played for Pacers in 12/13 (they may like him....I like him, just not in our timeline) Depending on picks and swaps.....can be Fandango'd
I would say not. Now this off season they can address their glaring hole at center. Saw a mock draft yesterday in which Bassey went to Brooklyn Nets. Then it would become automatic.
Not top 5. We just landed a super role player undrafted in Tate. For a top 5 pick, you want to see at least a few All-Star appearances.
A rare thing, my friend as we usually share an eerily similar perspective. ..But, I was under the impression the Nets were kicking it into gear. transcending whatever came out of the West...with the POSSIBLE exception of a healthy Denver Nuggets. More importantly, now...Yeah, absolutely....Bassey would plug right in. Brooklyn was always going to be able fill in the gaps one way or another for this year. This Kyrie trade talk was predictable, but they should think thrice about it, as this Dude's a straight up baller. The above being an example of how to keep KI and strengthen, bigtime...that team.
Agreed. It's tough acquiring a $40+M player during the season and not lose a good group of role players to get you over the hump. The interior defense of D Jordan/Blake Griffin/N Claxton would have been tested by Embiid/Tobias Harris/Simmons/D-12 or Capela/John Collins/Okongwu. Each team had excellent 3-pt shooters to create space for outside-inside game. D Jordan played like no minutes, Claxton averaged 9 minutes for the Bucks series. Claxton averaged 1.5 minutes in the last 3 games. Durant was exhausted having to play center. You could tell he was gassed. A center would have helped taken the fatigue aspect away from Durant as the center does the dirty work of rebounds/rim protection/wrestle with other teams big man. I've said that's what I want for C Wood. A big man that does the dirty work so that Wood has more energy to score more. Probably get 27 points per game if we had a guy like Bassey or Gafford of Washington. The injury aspect of Kyrie and Harden, well every team had their injuries. Trae Young. Giannis, CP3, AD, Embiid (knee), D Hunter, Conley.....it tends to be who the healthiest is, survives. This year's Nets was no exception.
Some folks around here are kind of numbed to EG and take him for granted. While he might not be an All Star caliber player anymore, there's still enough left in the tank for him to start on many teams. Fringe pretenders like the Pacers make all the sense in the world for him....overpaying all the while. One would assume we wouldn't have to add too much for #13...with a late first rounder being at the top end of the spectrum. EG's contract is fine for the right team.
The Nets were washing the floor with the Bucks before injuries. They had a great chance if healthy. No question they can improve defensively but that team would be in the Finals right now.
I think this is an interesting thread to pull. - Wood was on pace to make the All-Star team before he got hurt. If he can stay healthy next year hopefully with some added strength training, his value should only grow and likely the team improves. If this happens his trade value will be high at the next year's deadline and then Stone has a decision to make. He'll likely explore his trade value and if there is a deal he can't pass up, then he'll trade him and we may likely lose a few more games. - KPJ should be better with an off-season, training camp and a clear job description going into the season. I'm truly excited to see his improvement and hoping he makes a big jump. - Tate and KMJ are both rock solid players/teammates. Both should improve this off-season and make us better at the 3/small ball 4. Depending on our draft, trades and FA signings I imagine we won't be the worst team in the league next year, and at best fighting for an 8th seed. If that's our best hope, I'd strongly consider trading assets like Wood for younger building blocks or draft picks. We have our own pick next year and with it being the first HS draft in years, it will offer some very interesting prospects. To date, I'm pretty happy with Stone's approach and extremely interested to see what he does with our treasure trove of draft picks. Obviously if he's able to jettison Wall, Gordon and House for any assets that's a huge plus. In any case, next year should be fun just watching the youngin's grow, struggle, improve, etc.
Way too much optimism in this thread. We're actually trading Wall and the number 2 pick for savings and the 13th. We're the ones trading down, not Indy.
The Bucks also figured out that they were vastly bigger down low.....only they figured it out late. Like around game 4. You could see a concerted effort to power the Nets near the rim with Middleton/Brook Lopez/Giannis. It forced out Claxton out about that same time, as it was no contest. The point is, that series did not win you the Championship....you still had to go through the ECF and NBA finals. Each team after the Bucks series would have implemented the same tactic; but from game 1. And Durant was gassed by Game 6 of the Bucks series. Evidence was his last 3 point shot that barely grazed the rim. The 3 point attempt after the made one with his toe on the line.
Gordon is old & injury prone. (I don’t know why but I thought he was like 30. He’s 32, turns 33 in December. I guess time flies when you’re having fun. Spoiler ) 27 games, 36 games the last 2 years. 21-22: $18,218,818 22-23: $19,568,360 23-24: $20,917,902 6/28/23 — Eric Gordon’s $20,917,02 guarantees for 2023-24* *Eric Gordon’s 2023-24 salary guarantees in full if he’s named an NBA All-Star before the 2023-24 season, or the team wins a championship before the 2023-24 season, provided Gordon plays in at least 500 regular season minutes or in 750 minutes combined over the regular and postseason. 13th pick? That’s almost as delusional as the Westbrook for the Hornets 3rd/Knicks 8th pick last year or “we have a first lined up for Victor Oladipo.” Not that all of these would necessarily make good trade partners Lakers, Knicks, maybe Dallas, maybe Denver, maybe Miami, Bucks, maybe Filthadelphia…
Every team needs more 3&D wings. Lol. Rockets would have won the championship if only Luc MaM hadn't gotten hurt.
You know what my friend, so many folks here overlook that fact!!! You’re so right. Man 2-way shot creating wings are the top of the heap and they are closely followed by guys who are 3& D wings (with height/length). It’s just a must in today’s NBA.
TF is capable of this. Stone should refuse to do this, or trade the number 2 pick for the 5th and the 8th . He should resign as the GM instead of doing that.
