There is a rumor that Pelicans may trade their 10th pick for veteran (cough cough...Any chance of giving them EG?)
I had a trade where we took on their extra salary - Adams and Bledsoe - and 10, for Gordon, House, 23 and 24. May not be enough. Or replace Gordon with Wall. They'll still have the money to pay Lonzo.
Nah bro....I'm not not backing your boy Giddey You do know Durant was not considered a good defender coming out of college? He was scored a 7 by Draft net and criticized for defense as a weakness by 3 of their writers. https://www.nbadraft.net/players/kevin-durant/ Jalen Green is rated an 8 by the same outfit. https://www.nbadraft.net/players/jalen-green/ _______________________________ and who hasn't heard the criticism of Harden doesn't play defense in his career?
Not sure how I could respect anyone's opinion going forward who thinks Gordon for #13 is even remotely possible.
I am sure the Heat think differently about Battier. SUPER role players playing their role that do all the little things so super stars shine brighter. (Art 101 —> If you put dull or monotone colors around a bright color the bright color then looks even more vibrant. —> Use the color wheel). —> build a TEAM. Know the Heat didn’t win till Shane Battier got there. Is he a lone the reason for their success?—> of course not; but basketball is a lot more than 5 players on the court. —> Suggs/Battier types have very high value.
I don't think anyone thinks it's just Gordon for Green. It would have to be Gordon, No. 23/24 and something else, like the Rockets taking back a contract, a future second rounder, etc. I think Gordon played himself into a positive asset last season, albeit not an amazing one. I can see a playoff team trading for him. That being said, I'm taking all of the trade rumors the next 19 days with a huge grain of salt. I'm not believing anything until it happens.
idk who needs to hear this but wall and gordon have negative trade value. we would have to attach assets just to move them. we would not get any assets in return. the 10th is possible but we would have to take a negative contract with it to lower its value. something like 10/bledsoe for Augustine/house/23/24. With Indiana at 13, they want a player with a couple of years on his contract because they know they lose FAs and need to maintain team control of their players as long as possible. again this doesn't mean wall or gordon unless we want to add picks going to them rather than take the 13th. our offer would have to come close to the upside of the 13th pick, but also offer more of a sure-thing in terms of win now, which is what they're looking to do by trading the pick. something like tate/23/24 would meet both requirements. 3 rookie deals offer plenty of long term team control over the roster, and Tate is proven enough to help win now. for the rockets we consolidate talent and potential into one roster spot. as a rebuilding team we shouldn't use that cap space on good players to mess up our chances at another top 5 pick (olynyk). using our cap space on bad contracts with picks helps us get another swing at the fence with #13. plus next year a mid-sized expiring contract like Bledsoe become very tradable if we wanted to take on another bad contract for another late lotto pick. just be sure you can clear these bad contracts off the books in time to give your top 5 picks in '21-'23 the max. I would do either of those trades if it meant coming away with green/mobley at 2, and then Jalen Johnson, Zaire, etc... at 10 or 13. id' much rather swing for the fence with those guys in the late lotto than tate/mann and whoever in the 20s. even if it meant eating a bad salary to get it done.
I'm 100% in agreement with you on Wall. Dude's contract is an albatross, his knees are made of paper mache and he's a minus even when he is on the floor. The Rockets could offer a team 23, 24 and a future first and it still probably wouldn't be enough for a team to take him. But I'm not so sure I agree on Gordon. He essentially has 2 years, $38 million left on his contract, or roughly $19 million a year. That's not a terrible deal for a really good sixth man and a playoff team's fourth or fifth best player, which is typically what EG has been in his time in Houston. If you look at salary averages around what he's making, you see guys like Gallo, Rozier, Aaron Gordon, Joe Harris and the Bogdanovices. Are those guys significantly better than Gordon? Isn't he somewhere in that class of player when you factor in his defense and playoff experience? He's at least not significantly worse than those guys. I'm not saying his contract is good (it's not) or that he's suddenly an efficient player or a legit No. 3 (he's not). But if you're a team in need of another two-way scoring presence, you know you're not signing any marquee free agents this offseason and you've got some cap room to spare, I could see a team taking a shot on EG as long as they're not giving up a ton in return. A pick swap or a late first don't seem out of the question, especially if they can unload a player in return they're looking to get rid of.
Wall certain is a negative asset. Disagree on Gordon. He’s probably viewed as a negative asset by some teams and a positive by others.
There is no situation where Gordon is involved in a trade that nets us 13 or 10…would it be awesome? Yes. Will it happen? No. Even if we take stuff back.
