Longtime Austin resident Mathew McConaughey, who I've seen walking around 5th and 6th at Lamar more than once over the years, would beat Abbott, take him to school. How I hope he runs. O'Rourke doesn't have a chance, and I voted for him when he ran for the Senate.

The retirement system for Texas public school teachers has been underfunded by the state for many years now, our electric grid is in dire need of upgrading, despite the nonsense Abbott says about it, and there are a host of other critical needs for our state that need to be addressed, and you want hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to go towards a ****ing wall? Please tell me you're kidding.

    There is a structural problem.

The people will end up paying for this preventable event in higher electricity cost. This event was warned by others numerous time but the industry didn’t do enough. The system is still exactly imbalance and is industry lead. I prefer a system that is at least 51/49 lead by consumers. That’s a change that should happen.

A bizarre “reply.” You may be happy to toss hundreds of millions of our tax dollars, badly needed for services provided to both the children of our state and actual Texans in their millions of all ages just so Abbott can play up to extremists infatuated with trump’s lies. I am not.

Most hardcore Texas conservatives hate Abbott. He's getting his main support from moderate business conservatives, non-attention paying conservatives, and general business people who know he's an empty suit that will bend with the wind. His campaign war chest and Trump's endorsement is probably enough to get him to avoid a runoff. It's just embarassing that he's such a buffoon and still so successful in Texas - have to respect the results on some level. He's become the most powerful governor in Texas since Reconstruction. Nuts.

It amazes me that so many Texans vote for him when he could care less about anything to help make people's lives better. It's mind boggling to me. All he cares about helping are rich business owners who he lures with huge tax breaks. He acts like he is big on crime yet ignores the fact that his lax gun laws are putting more and more of us at risk.

With about 9 days to go, we're around 2.7% voter participation in the Texas primaries. Texans just don't vote. Because of that, you have to compete with whoever is fighting you because you can't count on some mainstream vote moderation. I honestly think the only reason Abbott acts super conservative is because the main threats running against him truly are super conservative (Huffines and West). They hammer the crap out of his policies, call out his immigration operation to be a photo opp (which it is), and call him fake conservative. I'm not a hardcore conservative, so I don't know if it's better from the perspective of someone who likes moderate polices to have a phony hardcore conservative like Abbott or a truly hardcore conservative wacko like West as the governor.

Separate from that, our Lt. Governor is trying to become the most powerful Lt. Gov in Texas in generations. We have two power hungry parts of a supposed plural executive, and a super conservative gerrymandered legislature that has maybe 1 swing district, and a public that doesn't vote. It's not a good combo.

Go for it. I bet if you counted all the suicides by gun and murders by guns, then see how many were legals vs illegals it would be overwhelmingly legal citizens.
