The Dodgers and their ilk are smug hypocritical cunts. They would fully embrace Correa just like they have Betts.
I've never read that the Astros are completely against 10 years. Why? If that's what the market demands you have to do it.
I agree, but their initial offers were WAY LOW - like almost disrespectfully low IMO. Some damage control to undergo by Click and a proper offer would go a long way. 10yrs 300Ms is the deal that would keep him HERE, but I'd assume he could get MORE elsewhere. It will depend on where Carlos' heart is at come seasons end and whether he harbors any ill will to the negotiation thus far.
Spin it however you want. They told Correa no long contracts. I think it is safe to say 10 years is a long contract. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...-likely-cementing-free-agent-shortstop-class/ "We didn't get close at all," Correa told reporters, including Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. "They made it every clear to me: we don't believe in big contracts. We don't believe in long contracts." (It's worth noting that Correa also admitted to talking to Lindor for an hour on the night he agreed to his extension, and said he "loves" Lindor's deal.)
If Astros are serious about Correa. Now is the time to offer an 8 year deal during the break. Astros offer 8 year 270 million. See what happens. Agree, we shouldn't offer a 10 year deal. But, in 8 years Correa will still be 34.
Maybe… but this wasn’t MLB’s decision. MLB also could have gotten control of the narrative/story long before the media decided to make it into the biggest single scandal in sports history. They seemingly learned from that instance and have been far more reigned in with every other scandal since… including one of their marquee pitchers beating the ever loving **** out of somebody supposedly because they asked for it.
He would definitely sign that, and it would be too much. Xander Bogaerts signed a 6 year 120 million dollar contract with the Red Sox, and the Lindor contract was way too much. If someone wants to offer Correa that much then so be it. I would offer max 8 years/$200 million at $25 million per season.
I read that if Astros offered 240m/8y this past offseason, he would have took that… now you risk losing him cause some team will offer 300m+ 10y+
Thanks for the quote. That is Correa saying they said something, not the Astros. I was an insulting first offer they gave him, no doubt about that.
Things may change a lot in the offseason, so who ****ing cares right now? Worry about it when it's time to worry about it. Enjoy the show.
Kind of hard when he's obsessed about travel stipends, meal allowances, and the cost of shoelaces... as it pertains to possible luxury tax implications. Crane telling Click this week that he doesn't give a **** about the luxury tax must have been a nut punch to him.
You spend too much time worrying about me and my thoughts. I've said several times they should go over the tax. But now that I know I've gotten under your skin....I'll keep digging
