    The ranking is based upon %age change from last seasons' playoffs compared to this season. Since Francis wasn't in the playoffs last season and since he torched Payton and Fisher in single coverage, he was awarded a high score in the "% change" category.

    If you click on the other categories, he's 15th in FG%, a distant 3rd in assists (not bad, though), and 3rd in ppg (pretty good there, too).

    :confused:
    It is? I don't see where it says that's factored in; also if you note, Francis' regular season rating is actually higher, somewhere around an 80 (6th), yet his % change is a negative. Also, if you note Marbury took the regular season top slot over LeBron even though he had a negative % change, and Lebron had a plus 80 something.

    Besides, now that I think about it, how could they factor in the % change into their forumula .... without calculating the formula in the first place to figure out what the % change is?

    I think it's just a throw in for informational purposes.

    WOw, go Stevie!

    Glad to see some of our players up there. Too bad we didn't advance. i am sure we will be better next season. Yao needs to step up his game late in the season and in the Playoffs. Also, SF needs to have a good season next year. His season was pretty crappy but the playoffs were awesome.

    I like our team this season. I hope the moves made this summer are smart ones.

    From the description at the bottom of the rankings:

    "The rankings are a total player-rating system based on various offensive and defensive statistics. Players increase their scores with every contribution they make to the game."

    But we are never told what those "various offensive and defensive statistics" are.

    I have questions with the validity of a ranking which has the following anomalies:

    * Ben Wallace is not listed as a C.
    * Okur is 15 at C.
    * Rasheed Wallace is listed as a SF behind Jim Jackson and ahead of Carmello Anthony.
    * Keith Van Horn is 16th SF and Bruce Bowen is 20.
    * PF is alleged to be the position we need to upgrade but we have the 14th and 17th best PF's. Both surpass Stromile Swift.
    * Joe Smith is ranked higher than Brad Miller and Antoine Walker.
    * Dirk Nowitski as the #1 C.

    On the surface, the ranking appears to be some form of an efficiency ranking. And Francis (for matchup reasons) had a high efficiency ranking for the playoffs.

    IMO, the question remains...is the real Francis the one which is the 6th most efficient player in the playoffs or the one which is the 46th most efficient during the regular season? My vote is for the latter.

    The thread title says he is the No.1 playoff performer, but actually the link says he is No.1 playoff performer at the PG position. Overall Francis is ranked at the 6th.

    Probably because the Lakers had BOTH the (overall) 3rd and 4th ranked playoff performers listed.

    Oh, trust me, I don't think their ranking is all that either; I'm just saying that "% change" doesn't appear to be a component thereof.

    i have to give Francis credit though...he brought his game to the playoffs. now if he can bring that to us during the reg. season we wouldn't be having dreams of Mcgrady in a rocket uni.

    I remember back in the day when how well you did in the playoffs was determined by wins and losses.

    :rolleyes:
