Biggest thing is - he isn't our GM. Glad Rafa will have the last say on anything (crossing fingers FernTits doesn't **** it up).

I don't see this as bad. Some people just aren't cut out for more responsibility.

It's like Wade Phillips or Josh McDaniels, great coordinators but bad head coaches. Maybe his intel is good but he just gets shaky making the big decisions. At least that's what I hope.

Did Gar Foreman turn them down first? @Nook

Rather have…Dennis Lindsey, Danny Ainge, Donnie Nelson, Shane Battier…

Hopefully that rumor that it was the owner who wanted Thabeet and not him is true. That doesn't excuse the rest of his draft picks because whew there's a bunch of stinkers in there.

He might just be a cheap hire, but it’s a good sign Stone is surrounding himself with a team of guys. Maybe Wallace is the one Stone goes to to make sure he does the opposite of what Wallace would do ;)

Because those guys would love to be Directing scouts?

You do know it would be a step down for them right?

He isn't who I would have hired but I also do not know what his actual power within the organization will be.

He is director of scouting.... but that can mean many things.

Wallace was a poor GM overall IMO..... his track record as far as scouting is more complicated.... he has made some good calls on players (Paul Pierce, Marc Gasol, Joe Johnson..... but he also traded Joe Johnson for garbage, he traded Love for Mayo, he also traded Kyle Lowery to the Rockets and he also selected Thabeet.

The question is where do you draw the line between scouting, and the decisions he made as an executive? I don't know for sure. It is also very possible that Stone choose Wallace because he isn't a threat to take power from Stone.

I find it a puzzling hire, and not one I would have made at all. I think that the Rockets do need some actual scouts and people with practical high level basketball experience, but Wallace hasn't really shown to be great at it TBH.

My gut is that this hire will likely mean very little.... or it is just reflexive of the Rockets deciding to be behind the times.

This is perfect. Whatever Chris Wallace tells us to do, we do the opposite. We'll come out on top every time! Keep those ideas coming, Chris, we need to know what not to do!

I admit I didn't remember Wallace doing those things. I'm starting to have some doubts now about this hire. He did draft Paul Pierce and retain Conley. That gives me some comfort.

Those guys are probably looking for a LEAD job and not an assistant job.

Brilliant move once again by Stone!!!!

Ask this guy for a list of players he likes…….And then stay the hell away from every player on that list.

    Genius!!

Thanks. Wise words. There is a cause for concern. Stone did well with Wood and got a useful piece in KJM. The pickup of KPJr shows me that he can recognize talent that needs to be developed and that he not afraid to take a risk. I hope he won't be swayed too much by Wallace. Eli is close to him too. What is Bullard going to do?

This is the kind of thing that makes you roll your eyes - in any industry people who "have experience" keep getting 4th and 5th chances while up and comers never get a shot.
