Are you insinuating Dusty does not give his players enough rest, and thus not making the ASG is a blessing in disguise?

The Astros have proven the cheating didn’t help them. These guys can hit regardless. They should have never even bothered. The cheating may have helped Evan Gattis but it sure the f@ck didn’t help any of our main guys. All the Astros did was punch their tickets out of being starters in the ASG for who knows how long. And, any players not here during 2017 are not going to be treated fairly due to just being an Astro. It sucks but that’s one of the prices to pay.

Still baffles me as to how opposing fan bases don't seem to worry too much about Marwin, Springer, Kemp, and Reddick as much when they're on a different team. And every team in need of a SS will be begging their front office to go after Correa in the off season.

The media did do some pretty irreparable damage on the Houston brand. And its also probably why the Red Sox (and the Yankees) have pushed back on cooperating or disclosing as much, in regards to their situations.

Marwin was a main guy and the 2017 season was an incredibly successful outlier to his career. At face value, he benefitted the most.

It thought so too, but then somebody pointed out that he was better on the road that year. It think overall that team (and pretty much every Astros team since) has become an expert at picking up tendencies, tells, tipping, and of course code breaking once a player was at 2B. That plus one of the most amazing grasps of the true strike zone, will benefit any hitter immensely.

While they weren't likely literally banging trash cans on the road, they all got much better at all the grey area stuff that has been around and "legal".

It's not that simple, you have to look at how the pitcher is going against those individual guys and what the hitters strength is against certain pitches.

It's a lot of information that goes into these decisions that as layman we ignore.

Weren't Reddick and McCann not big fans of the system along with Altuve? At least that's what I remember.

I'm pretty sure Gattis said McCann was against it. I think McCann was pissed about it.

Stros executed this with 10+ different players

"Each" meaning when an ASG was applicable

Gattis’ recent comments were that they felt really comfortable at home. Obviously the numbers show that it wasn’t particularly useful but maybe it takes the edge off mentally just enough to be beneficial over a long season. Who knows.

Obviously there was something about it to have them continue to use it, even though the numbers didn't necessarily indicate a benefit. Most players are going to be more comfortable at home. Most teams are going to post a better home record than road record.

The fact remains that the Astros splits throughout the large sample size regular season would not indicate necessarily an extra advantage at the plate. The playoffs, however, did show a distinct split... but we're talking about 9 home games. We just saw how polarizing baseball can be for any team over the last 2 weeks. The randomness just gets amplified in the playoff spotlight.
