I just don't think the Pacers have enough power to hold down the Kings

I think the Pacers best chance to win is the Wolves

If its Lakers vs Pacers I think the Lakers would take it but I would be rooting for the Pacers

I don't think the Pacers have enough consistent outside shooters.

Now that this thread is back and the Spurs are out, I'll just say I hope they can win a title, if the Lakers are their opponent.

    That's pretty reasonable to me.

I expect Shaq to show up when he has to. Artest can control Kobe as well as it is humanly possible to control him, and the Pacers bench is WAY WAY WAY better than LA's,

but the Shaq factor is hard to deny, even though home court would belong to the Pacers.

    Hopefully LA doesn't get there

The top teams in the East are gaining slowly, but they're still well behind the West's juggernauts. I predict at least 3 or 4 years until someone in the East wins a title.

Even though this was originally posted on 3-11-2004, I could not have said it better myself. Bravo.

No offense but after watching the Pacers struggle with the Heat, I'm just gonna assume this is a joke.

Yes, I'm talking about the team with the best record in the playoffs (7-2, all seven victories by double digits)

The team that also was the first and only team to win 60 games, the first to 50 games, first to 40, first to 30, first to 20, and first to 10 wins.

The team that was pretty much wire-to-wire the league's best team. and was better against the West than any team that is IN the West.

You might have heard of them, though they were only on ESPN once and TNT twice this year.

    LOL

The Pacers lost to the Lakers in 6 in 2000, with a much weaker perimter-oriented team, to a much stronger Laker team.

You need to review the NBA standings and watch the Pacers play a time or two.

Pacers are a good good team. They have the defense to match up with The west teams. Obviously I think the lakers would post the biggest problems but the Lakers do that to all teams. They have a great chance against Kings or Wolves though. Artest I believe would be able to keep Peja in check for the most part. Only thing about the pacers this playoffs so far is their road play. They havent' been able to step up on the road against the Heat and that worries me. If they can be as productive on the road as they are at home then they have a good chance to win the title. X-factor. Harrington and Bender and Miller in the clutch I think will determine their road to victory

    no.

    no chance. not one iota.

tom the pacers are good, but J. O'Neal is no answer to S. O'Neal, Artest is no answer to Kobe, and neither of whom have been able to shine on the biggest stage. Artest was exposed in the all start game, sure he can beast the weaker teams of the East, but I'm not sure Shaq and Karl Malone will let him do that. Payton finally gets a favorable matchup here, and the deep bench you speak of? Harrington, Bender, and Jone, not consistent enough to be a persistent threat.

Look, the last time you played the Lakers... it took a STUD performance from Austin Croschere... and I'm assuming that's not going to happen again.

    TheFreak was already being generous.

The lakers would sweep. One game if the Pacers are lucky.

you might have a chance agains the other two, but that dicussion is moot, and both teams would probably still win.

The only reason that series went 6 games was that Bryant got injured. The standings don't mean anything - you'll see. I have seen the Pacers play, and struggle, against the Heat, a team who wouldn't be in the playoffs were they in the West.

I'm just thinking if Duncan had trouble scoring against the Lakers, how in the hell is Jermaine O' Neal gonna get his? Who are the Pacers gonna depend on to bail them out, Jeff Foster??? The only title hopes the Pacers have is if the Lakers lose in the Western Finals.

The team with the best player has won the NBA title every single year since 1990, and the Pacers don't have a player in that category. Jermaine O'Neal isn't top 10. And the Lakers team this season is more talented than it was in 2000, when Glen Rice was the only scoring threat on the roster besides Kobe and Shaq. It wouldn't take the Lakers though - Minnesota or Sacramento would handle them in 5 or 6. Heck, San Antonio and even Dallas would have been heavily favored against Indiana.

The Pacers don't depend upon Jeff Foster for scoring any more than the Rockets depnd upon Kelivin Cato.

The next play drawn up for Jeff Foster will be the first ever drawn up for Jeff Foster.

    The scoring options are:
    O'Neal
    Artest
    Harrington
    Miller
    Tinsley
    Bender
    Jones
    Croshere
    Johnson

    then Foster.

The West bias around here is incredible.

When is the last time a team with home court in the finals DIDN'T win it?

Sure the Lakers should be favored if they get there, but I really likr the Pacers chances against Minnesota or Sacramento, and it's hard to imagine the Lakers needing less than 6 games. Their suspect bench will be exposed more and more each round of the playoffs.

MVP voting: Garnett, Duncan, Jermaine O'Neal.

Sam-I-Am, you really need to pay attention to the sport of basketball. Sacramento would have nobody on the court the equal of Jermaine O'Neal.
