I know we gave him away for practically nothing but we can not control what has happened in the past but we can still have some control of what we do this point forward. The fact of the matter is that Richard Jefferson is a very good/upcoming star that can help us greatly.

I know we need a PG and PF but Jefferson will be a very nice SF to add to our team. We can move JJ to SG.

    18pts, 6rebs, 4 assist, 49% FG with GREAT DEFENSE

    I suggest that we trade:

    Mobley/Mo Taylor for RJ/Rodney Rodgers

trade Francis for a PF (ex Brand). I am only using this as an EXAMPLE. I know this has been talked about to death.

    pick up Brent Barry

    new team

    Yao/Cato
    Brand
    RJ/Rodgers
    Jim Jackson/Boki
    Brent Barry/Mark Jackson

This will be a VERY well rounded team.

    great size- yao/cato/brand.

very good 3 pt shooting- barry, jackson, rodgers

    much better passing- barry

and alot of intangibles that RJ and Brent Barry brings.

I feel your pain and that trade really hurt our franchise. But despite how screw3d we got with that trade, the fact is RJ is a very good player that can help us. If we had a chance to acquire him at a fair price, we should definitely go about trying to get him.

Imagine a team with Yao and Brand in the middle and having lengthy active guys like RJ/JJ/ and Barry playing the lanes.. That will be an amazing team.

i'm not sure that they'd do this trade. but RJ's pretty good... not as good a shooter as Cat is though, right? and if we need anything, it's shooters. so if you make this move, then you have to make some other moves too.

True. But that is why we need Brent Barry and Rodney Rodgers as well. Both are ver good to good 3 pt shooters. Also, I am hoping Pike steps up this year. If not, we can get rid of him and try to get a Hoiberg type player.

It would just hurt too much to give up more talent for him after we gave up so much in the first place.....plus I don't want to move Cat.....even for RJ.

speaking for 3-pt shooting, how about that white dude on Twolve's roster? And Twolves starting pg last year? Can we get either very cheap? Also, Peeler has been good all season, although he totally lost control last game.

yeah.. the white dudes name is Hoiberg. I mentioned him as well.

i really like him. he is like an athletic Steve Kerr. Suprisingly, Hoibergs d is actually pretty good. he came out with a Basketball training video tape when he was in college. Has amazing hops!

The other guy you mentioned is Hudson. I dont like him too much. Very erratic and shoots alot of bad shots.

Richard Jefferson DEFINITELY benefits from playing with Jason Kidd and the Nets' offensive style. It's all fastbreak layup or dunk points. I haven't seen jefferson put up moderately consistent perimeter shooting games ever. Not a knock on a guy that's the Nets' leading scorer, but just face it: he's an all-star in the right environment (NJ) and would be out of the league by now if he wasn't (Hou)

RJ is good, but I think his numbers are inflated being in NJ. The Nets run the best break in the L and they run it at each and every opportunity. With Kidd at the point, Jefferson gets about 3 alley-opps a game plus other open court finishes (which he is excellent at). While he is improving, I dont believe he would be nearly as successful in Houston where we focus on the halfcourt set. This type of offense would greatly reduce his productivity. Again, don't misunderstand me. Jefferson is certainly improving, but I would be cautious about falling in love with the guy. His end of game decision making is also suspect, something we already have enough of as is.

    No. Screw that prick.

I remember an interview last year where he said something along the lines of, "Yeah, thank God that trade happened, 'cause ... oh, I mean the fans here in New Jersey are terrific."

He was about to go on a anti-Rocket rampage and then at the last second tried a little political correct CYA type of answer.

Up until that time, I always wished we had kept our hands on him, but after he started letting his true colors show, he was severely lacking in Rockets red.

Jefferson also had an incident where he said something bad about a player or team and then denied it. Then, someone played a recording of him saying it, and he still denied it. The guy is an ass, and is overrated as a player as well. I don't think he would fit on a team that doesnt even have a point guard, as you have suggested hikanoo.

Unlike most here, I really like Jefferson’s game. Among the small forwards in the league, I would rate him right up there with Shawn Marion, Ron Artest, and Rashard Lewis. Just below Carmelo, LeBron, and Peja. But he wouldn’t be a very good fit on this team. He’s best suited for an up-tempo team and with Yao and Van Gundy here, I don’t see this being an up-tempo team.

    R. Jefferson has a bad attitude(sp)... during the time when K-Mart yelled "my kidney, my kidney" when Mourning said " My ankle, my ankle"... reporters asked Richard about the kidney remark, Richard said its not funny.... it Hilarious....

I see him just as classless as K-mart... I'd be damned if he was a rocket...

Yeah id pretty much agree with the ones who think RJ classless. Him and martin are the last 2 people I want to see him in a rockets uniform. Both are overated athletic players..... Id like to see martin average what he does playing the majority of his games in the west and without Jason Kidd. That guy wants a max contract and he isnt even near 20/10 in the east.

Secondly why would you post a trade thread for a player that is doing well and has no problems with is team what so ever. THe only way we could get RJ is if we offered Yao or something. New Jersey has no reason to trade him away and he fits perfectly with their team.

I'm perfectly willing to concede now that Jefferson has turned to out be a really good player and Jersey hosed us in that trade. Having said that, I have zero regret that we didn't keep him instead, because his skills really are more appropriate for NJ than for Houston. Jefferson would never have panned out in the Rockets' half-court offense, especially with JVG's slow-it-down style.

Everyone agrees that Yao needs a pf someone who can shoot mid / mid-longrange jumper and get mad rebounds, yet they all want to get EBrand......... Elton Brand has mediocre jumper and he plays post up offense which takes away Yao's game. Most of the time I have watched E Brand.. he scored with back to the basket. Why do you guys want Ebrand when he doesnt fit in our system?
