A player who has no PG skills improving to KPJ's level is like a 25% 3 point shooter improving to 40%. It's going from bad to good.
I might be the biggest KPJ homer on CF but i still want Green. Would lock in our backcourt for hopefully 15 years
I describe that as the better, more experienced player outplayed Green. Evan Mobley got demolished by Timme of Gonzaga who isn't even a first round pick if we are going to go with silly head to heads. Mobley's ceiling is higher but is a higher variance.
I want Green. L not wait around and hope with Mobley going with a BIG At least we have something to look forward to seeing the dunks with green. At the least, green should have jaylen brown type of game in a 2 years.
It’s clear that all you do is look at stats which is not how you properly evaluate prospects. You look at what they possess from an athleticism standpoint and their base level skills and project what a few years development would look like and how that would impact their game. Green has elite level athleticism and gracefulness, he is more athletic than KPJ. His skills will gradually improve given his work ethic and how young he is.
What will mobley be, emmbid??? Even embid gets put out by a small guard throwing up 3s it's a guard league. You seek to think mobley will be shaq or dream
Stats are one of the things I look at, sure, but it's not the first or only thing I look at. While Green is arguably more athletic than KPJ, is he more athletic than KMJ? Probably not, but athleticism isn't everything. When I look at Green's total package, I see a guy who I'm relatively sure will be a decent scorer, but without major improvements I don't see him being anything else. To me that caps his value until those things are developed. When I look at what Mobley already has going for him, if he doesn't develop further at all he'll be more valuable than an athletic 6'6 traditional SG. I can't assume Green will develop PG skills any more than I could assume KMJ would develop Green's handle. Those things would be awesome if they happened, but it's not as simple as all that.
Exactly, people pretend its a rare case like Luka where the ball is in his hands 95 percent of the time. For someone like KPJ who now this year has emerged and next year he will be on scouting reports for teams to plan for and guard with less surprises, more scoring talent for him is just more spacing, more efficiency, more room to work and more ammo for our offense to hit at other angles. they are far too young and let alone easily could be an amazing 1-2 punch a la Dame/CJ or many other two scoring guards that in this day and age can make it work. At this point, we consolidate all the talent we can and worry about fit later. For all we know green could end up being far better than KPJ. Also, green is apart of a promising expierment with the Gleague. No hs or college players have EVER played that level of competition with exclusively borderline nba players on their team rather than sam the future financial analyst guarding him practice. Let alone they have far more practice time, they have nba coaches, nba plays, nba sets. We saw ayton say teh best thing for his ccareer was playing with chris paul who challenged him to do more than even he thought he could. Those guys in the gleague have brian shaw and nba level coaching and experience day in and day out to let em know this isn't some game, this isn't college, theres a way to work and be great. I expect the gleague guys to perform better than most traditional rookies. Mobleys got the measurements and athletics to be special, Green already looks like a contributing 2 guard and with his experience and even the drive to take the hardest route in the gleague vs being the man in college to me at least shows he up for the challenge. I love Jalen Johnson in duke, I think suggs wll be better in nba than college with an open court, and I don't know mobleys ceiling, but I feel pretty comfortable with green. I had a poll months ago if we would take on Zach Lavine. Odly enough most said no way, but if Green had Lavines projection, averaging 27-5-5 on 50-40 I think we'd all be escatic for that, so its odd we didnt want zach laveine at his prime but we want a kid who we hope could be like him.
I love the KPJ game and he has all the tools to be a star in this league. My concerns with KPJ are off the field. As for the Green-Mobley discussion, my concerns are off the field as well. They are both extremely good players, but while the reports on Green show excellent work ethics, the reports on Mobley are not so auspicious.
Ok I read some Jalen Green articles and some posts from my fellow colleagues I am back on the Jalen Green band wagon ! I’m a flip flopping mother ******!
Zach Lavine comes with a max contract for a team that is at the bottom of the league, and he hasn’t proven that he can lead a team to even just an 8th seed as the best player…also, his advanced stats aren’t anywhere near as impressive as his basic box score numbers…he averages 27, 5, and 5, but his impact isn’t matching those numbers…that’s why people didn’t want him
Bill f***ing Russell. No, for real, I think he could be an AD lite. I think he has the talent to be similar to Davis on defense but a notch below on offense. I think Mobley could be a guy that transitions the Rockets from a sieve to a team whose defense is their calling card. I think Green will score a lot of points but the Rockets offense will not be elite and their defense will stay as bad as it was last year. But maybe I'm wrong, I'm just posting on a fan board.
In the Philippines they call Green "Idol." This kid is likeable and will be a fan favorite similar to Lin overseas. Likely to be fan voted into many All Star games. making Tilman money ( $$$ ) That's where this begins and ends
No one is wrong. It just comes down to whether a person wants immediate results (Green) or wait a couple of seasons (Mobley).
I don't see the results being more immediate with Green than with Mobley. They'll provide different things immediately, but I think they'll both produce fairly immediately. My concern about Green is that he could end up being just another Terrence Ross...which isn't terrible but we all want more.
As much as I love Green it should be noted that his TS% from G league is slightly inflated given their new experimental free throw rule. Whether you're team Green or Mobley it's pretty awesome we're sitting here with our number two pick. Please don't trade it away. It's our parting gift from the Morey regime.
