KPJ had already played 1162 NBA minutes (or 50 NBA games) before his Viper G League stint. And people have been anointing KPJ on this board.... I'm not dismissing the NCAA but you need to differentiate the competition when the prospects are this close. As I've said elsewhere, we should be asking about the #1 or what we need to do to get Cade.
Bobby Brown played in the G-league this year? LOL. G-League is a glorified minor league system full of NBA has beens and a few guys that don’t want to go to college. Not saying it is a bad thing for the NBA to find potential players, but annointing guys as the next MJ or even the next Bruno Cabola is ridiculous. Green may be great, but everyone needs to quit saying is G-League performance proves it. Let Stone do the evaluation. He obviously knows what he is doing with talent evaluation.
And Bobby Brown could outplay most NCAA guards...... No one is saying Green's G League performance alone proves he's #2.
I don’t put too much stock in the G-League unless you’re playing bad over there…top prospects are supposed to be able to play well there, and if they don’t, then it’s a problem which is why I do not like Kuminga Green played well against grown men, professionals, blah blah blah…I think Suggs and Cade would have excelled in that environment as well Cade had zero spacing and very little talent surrounding him playing a game where teams will routinely use an entire 35 second shot clock and it’s a struggle to score over 80 points whereas the G-League is fast paced and far less structured, but then I saw a post trying to compare Green and Cade’s numbers like they played in the same environment How many college games is the score like 30-24 at halftime? with that said, I like Green at #2 and hope he will reach his scoring potential and develop as a playmaker + at least be adequate defensively…worst case he’s an athletic, 1 dimensional scorer
It was also the first time Porter ever played PG. Prior to this season, Cavs played Porter at SF. Green has played SG his entire career. Porter at least shows ability to lockdown on defense in critical situations (happened in G-League and NBA - remember when Porter locked up Lika and stole ball in waning minutes of Mavs game?) but I have yet to see that kind of effort or production from Jalen Green - HS or G-League. Talk is nice but ....
Running an offense? Unquestionably. Green has no PG skills whatsoever and Porter has the potential to be elite at that.
Yes. Right now, he sure as hell is better. Porter is currently a better scorer, playmaker and defender.
isn’t this tampering or something? Is Clint saying he wants to come back home? id be ok with selecting green if it brought Clint home
That could be given the age difference since you are comparing a sophomore in the NBA to someone who has never played in the NBA.... but you also think Green won't be as good as Porter is in two years I imagine. Correct?
LOL. "Whatsoever"... when you throw absolutes out like that I know it's become an emotional argument.
Perhaps but do not claim to be a prophet. But what I'm sure of without doubt is that Porter will still be better playmaker, defender and overall basketball player.
I’ve completely flipped after watching all the highlights that have been going around on Twitter. Green seems like the easy choice.
"Without a doubt" "Whatsoever" Some of y'all have been bitten by the draft bug and have fallen head over heels....
It's not though. He's not a good passer, he doesn't have good court vision, he isn't capable of running an offense. That's just not his game. Right now he has a decent shot, he can create his own shot, and his elite athleticism helps him get by defenders. Those are all pretty awesome things, but he simply has no PG skills as of now. The hope would be that one day he'd develop them, but that's not a given.
