In confirmation of apparent news from his Instagram page, University of Florida product Tre Mann said he recently worked out with the Houston Rockets as part of his preparations for the 2021 NBA draft.

Per Kelly Iko of The Athletic, Mann said at Thursday’s NBA draft combine in Chicago that his recent meeting and workout with the Rockets was his first with any team. The 6-foot-4 guard said he enjoyed the process and believes he performed well in 3-on-3 and 1-on-1 drills, and Mann thinks he would fit well on Houston’s roster, according to Iko.

During his sophomore season with the Gators in 2020-21, Mann averaged 16.0 points (45.9% FG, 40.2% on 3-pointers), 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 32.4 minutes per game. Here’s how For The Win draft expert Bryan Kalbrosky described Mann’s talent in his recent mock draft:

Florida’s Tre Mann was simply elite as a shot creator who displayed drastic year-over-year improvements as a shooter and as a playmaker.

He has the dribbling and the pull-up jumper necessary to break down his defenders and he has good positional size, literally growing two inches and adding 15 pounds between his freshman and sophomore year.

Kalbrosky projects Mann to be taken at No. 20 overall, which is in range of the final two first-round picks owned by the Rockets — No. 23 (from Portland) and No. 24 (from Milwaukee). Because Houston owns multiple picks, it’s also conceivable that they could package those to move up in the draft order and select someone such as Mann, should they not believe that he would be on the board at their current slots.

Now 20 years old, Mann played two college seasons at Florida. See below for a scouting analysis video based on Mann’s play with the Gators.

I'm guessing EGo and Nwaba aren't in our future plans.

I like it too, but he is weak on defense. Perimeter defense and shooting is a huge need for us. Murphy III and Duarte can benefit us more .

Nah, he's a decent role player at best. Let's roll with Juzang

We needed to draft a Mann, back when Luther was on the team.

No more watching Gordon dribble off his foot and wall missing layups.

What could combining 23 and 24 yield?

17 or 18? I am sure there are analytics on that. Maybe 13 to a specific team?

I really wish they would consider trading both picks and Wood. Perhaps even one of the lower tier future picks due from another team if that gets you into the top 5. One of the top guards and Mobley and Kumunga.
