Good. Now finish the job by having them just tell people what to do by watching a machine that automatically detects outcomes. Though I would like imagine the TSA union arguing that "it's part of our glorious history that human error plays a role; sure, sometimes people walk through with a gun, but that's always been a part of the game."
They're working on it in the minors. There's no ****ing way they'll do anything in MLB without about 2 years of testing and data and a Spring Training to get people used to it. It's inevitable, but maybe not just all that soon.
How are the Giants 20 games over .500? Do they have staying power? They were supposed to be an afterthought entering the season, but were approaching July and they have 2 and 4.5 game leads on LAD and SDP...
Because they are getting crazy production out of Longoria, Posey, Belt, and Crawford. Longoria and Posey appeared mostly done, Belt whose had a major power jump and Crawford was never much offensively to begin with yet is somehow about to already pass his career high in HR. They also have another guy in Duggar who has absurd BABIP (.463) luck thus far. This same core was 14th in the NL offensively in 2019 and is currently 1st. If I were a betting man, I would put quite a bit on theme regressing but still being good. It certainly isn't unheard of for guys to make later career adjustments to increase productivity, it is odd for 4 guys at those ages (33 and 34) to all do it in the same season to this degree of success.
They're also getting HUGE seasons thus far from Kevin Gausman and Anthony Desclafani. Cueto and Wood have been productive as well.
The opposing team should NOT be able to request umps to check. Stopping the game and making a spectacle of one team accusing the other of cheating is going to be a normal part of games now?!?!?! Who the f thought that would be a good idea. Jesus.
Didn't see it posted, but Buxton returned from 6 weeks on the IL, only to be hit in the hand and break it in the 3rd game back.
Couldn’t they always request the umps to check? It was just one of the “unwritten rules” that teams didn’t do it for fear that their own guy would get checked…
Yep. It was MAD..mutually assured destruction that kept teams from asking. May even playing field for a night, but other 28 teams benefit if two teams get pitchers ejected.
I’ve been annoyed by some of his decisions, but I’m very glad the Astros hired a guy like Dusty Baker over an a**hole like Girardi. Girardi-like pricks are all over the league. Thankful for Baker’s chill-grandpa vibes...
4th easiest schedule (behind Nats, Brewers, and Mets) in baseball has something to do with it. 29-14 vs teams under .500, 1 win behind the Mets and tied with the White Sox, As and Dodgers for most wins against <.500 teams.
