We all know that the decision to draft Green or Mobley is huge but it's not the first time the Rockets have been faced with this delimma. In 1983, the Rockets went with the big and hometown favorite, Hakeem, which netted us 2- Championships but Jordan became a National Icon. I think this time we need to go with the wing!
Morant is a star. Ayton is a role player. This team needs a star. We have more than enough role players.
He's been effective throughout this years playoffs and scored the winning basket last night but I think Green should be the choice. With Wood on the roster I think we just need another big who can bang against bigger centers and occasionally hit a three
I try to make it a point not to comp any rookies to top 10 players and you did it for 2 lol No one in this draft is THAT good. There are prospects who won Euroleague MVP at 18 (Luka), completely dominated the NCAA even as freshmen (AD and KD), or showed otherworldly levels of polish and athleticism at such a young age (LeBron). No one in this draft, not even Cade, did anything near those things. Temper your expectations.
He did in college for sure. Derek Fisher had the clutch gene too and he had it in the NBA and in the biggest situations. You wouldn't draft Derek Fisher at #2 just because he was clutch.
Having Ayton in place makes everything simple for Phoenix in terms of roster- shooters and scorers. This ability to focus is underappreciated.
It's more or less THE CHOICE of a Top wing player in the Draft vs. the Top Big in the Draft, I'm not comparing their talents to those players.
I would too but I'm looking at the highlights and scouting reports on both and it's going to be a TOUGH decision. If I'm Stone, I ask myself is it easier to find a Wing that can give you 20+ a night or a Big that can give you 20+ a night?
Big men have a higher bust rate...Oden, Thabeet, Bennet, Darco...plus the NBA rules favor guards! Easy choice Green>Mobley!
