Lots of drama tonight. The knockout bracket is filling, Wales v Denmark and Italy v Austria on Saturday leading to a possible Italy v Belgium Quarter-Final. The race for the 3rd-ranked spots will be crazy.
Watching Denmark pull that off had me tearing up a little bit. Impossible not to root for those guys.
They have been absolutely dreadful. They have to either pull Kane or find a way to get Vardy in with him. Kane is playing too far back to be effective. They seem to be afraid to score. They move the ball sideways and backwards really well...but going forward seems to be a foreign concept to them.
Southgate needs to go. Sancho playing 6 minutes in the tournament is laughable. Grealish has to play more too. Croatia starts every match 1-0 down due to the centre-back pairing, fortunately the manager has finally found a good attacking lineup. Took him 2 friendlies and 3 group matches to put Vlašić and Petković in the first 11.
It's funny how they are the "darkhorse" every recent tournament and then play like utter trash, always bet against them.
I was apparently wrong because Vardy isn't on the roster...but my point stands. Kane is killing them right now. He doesn't seem to know where to be. He's going to continue to start but they need to put in a Calvert-Lewin who will stay high and allow Kane to drop and make the passes he wants to make. Then, I start Grealish and Rashford along side him.
You've. Got. To. Be. ********. Me. Never been so embarrassed by my team advancing. Almost eliminated in home game versus fn Hungary. Löw has learned less than zero from the 2018 debacle, he's clueless against opponents that park the bus. Musiala should have started and when he's finally on, this 18 year old kid does more in two minutes than Sané and Werner in the whole tourney combined. If Löw has some sort of sense left, he'll start Goretzka, Müller, Havertz and either Gnabry or Musiala in the next round. Anyways... knockout match versus England in Wembley. Can't wait, that's why we love this sport.
We have a pretty okay chance at reaching the finals, England seems like the strongest opponent. Left side of the tournament is a total bloodbath, insane matches.
seems crazy that group play eliminates only 8 of 24 teams I guess the idea is it filters out all the truly awful teams and gives everyone else a few matches to hit their stride.
Those brackets are really unbalanced. All the best teams on the left bracket. Either Germany or England is going to get a free ride to to finals.
