Being 'open' doesn't mean anything. Sure, I'd trade the pick for Luka too...or Zion...or Ja Morant...sure sure...I'm sure the Rockets are OPEN to that...

But trading for anyone else should be laughed at immediately.

The draft Green at #2 scenario and trade up using Wood, Wall and 23, 24 or both.

    For Mobley or Barnes

This is stupid, absolutely stupid if they go down that path.

Suck for the next 3 years till you can get Wall and Gordon's contracts off the books.

LOAD up on top five picks to build a real core.

Trade the 23/24 picks for good players if you want to go that route, but do it then, not now.

He will package it to get rid of the worst contract in the league...

Rockets will trade for Bradley Beal and have one of the best back courts in the league... Wall and Beal

I can't imagine us trading this away. What type of player would justify trading the second pick? Zach Levine? Definitely not. Zion, sure, but there's zero chance he's available. And if he is, he'll get traded for the #1 pick, not #2.

Of course. But Dallas won't trade Luka. New Orleans might entertain a moment's notion of trading Zion but he's too unique a talent.

This kind of question means nothing without specifics. Which player are we talking about trading for?

Anyway, it's probably smarter to keep the pick, draft a high ceiling guy, suck for one more year and get another high pick.

With Tilman you have to expect even if we draft a Kobe Bryant he will not get a contract extension.

You are mIssing the point entirely. Even if there is a .0001% chance that Doncic has secretly told his team to trade him - it’s still worth it because there is literally no downside to letting teams know you are open to trades.

The main thing that worries me about this statement is that if we pick a player, it sounds like we weren't 100% on them. We should be telling youth that we're all in on them.

@glimmertwins "You are mIssing the point entirely. Even if there is a .0001% chance that Doncic has secretly told his team to trade him - it’s still worth it because there is literally no downside to letting teams know you are open to trades." ... it didn't take long to come up with a rebuttal. (No I did not read your post before answering.)

The war has begun between Mobley and Green. I thought the easy pick would have been Mobley, but there has been a lot of support for Green everywhere.

Let me ask you... If we still had Harden would you trade him right now for the #1 pick this year? The answer should be no and I'm guessing that's what all of the other GMs with high talent would say as well.

I could see him doing this. Reuniting the mediocre Duo of Wall/Beal to reclaim the glory days of 5th seed in the east and the reunion no one asked for.
