That’s awesome. Another teenager in full season ball. As long as he isn’t totally overmatched it’ll be a great sign for him.
Nathan Perry has been added to the roster as well. Fayetteville has a really interesting group of arms right now.
Santos is very intriguing to me. I’ve also been daydreaming about a kid from the Bronx dominating the Yankees in an Astros uni.
C Gerry Castillo was released. With Perry being assigned to Fayetteville, Jose Alvarez was sent down to the GCL, which apparently will now be called the FCL (Florida Coast League?). The GCL/FCL was scheduled to start games on 6/28 so hopefully we will see some kind of roster updates from them in the next week or so.
I thought they just got rid of a lot of the leagues, didn't know they got rid of everything. That's good to know
Korey Lee down in Corpus lookin like a core player. A homer and a triple so far tonight. Santos debuted tonight and threw 2.2 scoreless, 5k 0bb.
How has Pedro been playing. I know he got better after the terrible start but haven’t seen much on him in a while
Has to be top 100 by the end of the season at this rate. Wonder if he can reach 55 FV status if he stays hot.
IIRC the Astros plan to field two complex league teams. If true, the Astros lost short season teams in Greeneville and Tri-Cities, but gained one team in the complex league.
Both of these things are very exciting. Santos was the first draft pick of the Click era and Lee was the final top choice of the Luhnow era. Will be very interesting to see how those guys develop. Santos is obviously just beginning his journey in pro ball but you can’t ask for a better first outing out of him. Korey Lee has a clear path to the big leagues with no long term solution at catcher at the major league level. A catcher with a solid bat to go along with the core that we already have in place would spell major trouble for opposing pitching staffs for years to come.
SL Skeeters Meyers still hot 2-5 tonight with his 13th HR of the year .315 AVG and 1.013 OPS Matijevic also 2-5 with his 2nd HR of the year in AAA .391 AVG and 1.266 OPS in AAA .294 AVG, .388 OBP, .968 OPS, 11 HR AA and AAA combined De La Cruz 4-5 tonight with 2 doubles .338 AVG and .907 OPS Siri 1-5 with his 8th HR of the year .319 AVG and .934 OPS CC Hooks Korey Lee is a monster 3-4, HR, 3B .333 AVG and 1.098 OPS in AA .331 AVG, .389 OBP, .904 OPS, 6 HR in A and AA combined
Both of these were hit off of Bryce Jarvis who was the Diamondbacks' first round pick in 2020 (18th overall). This was Jarvis' first game in AA after posting a 3.62 era, 1.15 whip, and 10.1 strikeouts per nine in advanced A ball.
Nice. The video for the HR said it was a 93mph fastball. Eric Longenhagen has an article up on wander franco in which he mentions that Franco's ability to hit velocity is somewhat untested. One of Lee's last games in Fayetteville he went 2-2 with a walk against Spencer Strider, who has been 95-99 this year. A couple of ABs don't mean much, but it's good to see that he's not just feasting on weak opponents.
