Make this thread to the top
If one newb will learn that Les Alexander started this whole mess by selling the team for greed then more Rockets fans will be educated

so Kobe never played anywhere else, he retired a Laker
Their owner wasn't too cheap to pay him for all he did and give him his respect in his last year

So Les didn't play Dream for 1 year so we can watch Steve Francis and Kato suck and watch Dream play in Toronto

    NEVER FORGIVE EVER

Dream in a Raptors jersey was a travesty of the highest order…so was taking the championship trophies down to Florida and leaving us with Canal Street knockoffs

The choice is clear. Cuban disassembled their team that won championship and went for lottery for years.

He also sold the team when he didn't have to , only for greed
which apparently extremely stupid people on Clutchfans don't get that concept.

Let's say I have a Ferrari. That Ferrari is worth like 250K.
the person who actually likes driving a Ferrari drives it.
the person who says, hey I can sell it for $250k, didn't really want it in the first place.

Either you want to be an owner or you don't.
    Les didn't want to anymore.
And he PICKED WHO HE SOLD IT TO BECAUSE HE CAN LOAN HIM THE MONEY.

Dolan ain't selling the Knicks, he loves being an owner and he doesn't need the money.

“Alexander had chosen Fertitta’s $2.2 billion bid and wanted to move forward to finalize it.

Fertitta’s $2.2 billion wasn’t the highest offer the team received; at least two rivals offered more money.

A contract was soon signed, but Fertitta still needed to raise $2.2 billion. Alexander agreed to finance $275 million of the deal. Fertitta then borrowed $250 million against the value of the Rockets, the maximum allowed by the NBA, and kicked in $300 million of his own money, but that still left him $1.375 billion short. Rather than selling equity in the company, which would have meant giving up full ownership, Fertitta decided to make up that difference by issuing corporate bonds and bank debt.

Over the course of less than two weeks, more than a hundred institutions bought bonds, including Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Fidelity, and Putnam. He secured the financing he needed, and because he never took on any partners in the deal, the Rockets are all his.

There are a lot of billionaires who would like to own NBA teams. It is curious that in 2017, well into the tenure of the strategic Adam Silver, Fertitta—with the baggage of his family name, a need for profoundly creative financing, and not even the high bid—made it to the front of the line.

Shame on Leslie Lee Alexander. Shame on the NBA. Shame on Tilman Joseph BrokeTits Fertitta.

Who cares why and when Alexander sold the team? That has absolutely no bearing on what a **** show the Rox are now. If anyone other than Ferntits should be blamed, it should be Silver for allowing Tillman to buy the Rox in the first place. Silverknew he could afford to run a professional sports team, which was clear as day for anyone with a brain when Ferntits had to use some magic accounting just to raise the funds to buy the Rox.

This isn't the LA Clippers and Sterling.

Silver couldn't stop Les from selling and he couldn't stop Les from selling to Tilman.

    It's dumb Clutchfans logic.

Oh it does matter that he sold it on his own and was not forced to.
    @J.R.

If I had a car and I sold it, that means I don't want it anymore and rather take the money.
it doesn't matter if I sold it to someone who can't drive.

    He couldn't afford it.
Tillman couldn't afford to buy and run the team. He had to use voodoo accounting to come up with the capital. The NBA stepped in and took over (bought) the Pelicans for similar reasons.

I think the nba found that he did get the financing to do buy the Rockets
And Les helped him with it , obviously

you can argue if this is true or not, but Tilman still owns the team and Les did sale the team on his own free will

I blame LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh. The big 3 took discounts to stay together
to try to win championships and then said, "No More, Miami." LeBron leveraged
    Cleveland against the Heat.

LeBron may have stayed with the Heat if Bosh came to Houston and Melo
    stepped in with the Heat.

All in all, Les said, the heck with this, the table stakes just got too high.
I'm cashing in my chips and going home. To that I can't blame Les.
I pat him on the back for knowing his limits and what he can afford.

Les wanted championships and knew he had to pay luxury taxes to do it
from that point on. He wasn't in it to just say, "I own an NBA franchise."
A rancher can brag he or she has 50 head of cattle; but if the cows are
    all starving......then it's just bragging.
