Dershowitz has been in love with hyperbole for a while now. Now he's in it with both feet. His infatuation with trump is bizarre and this column reflects it, in my opinion. It is filled with the buzzwords used by trump's acolytes and trump himself. It is no longer enough to describe someone as liberal. Now they have to be "hard-left," and "hyper-partisan," or worse. Extremists, in other words. Dershowitz is using a typical trump tactic. Turn the attack from your political enemies around and attack them with it, changing a word here and there, and sometimes not bothering to do that. trump does that all the time, lying through his teeth with relish. Our national institutions are under attack by trump and his followers, so what does this guy do? He goes out of his way to attack another national institution, the ACLU. I think Dershowitz has found his alternate reality and is living it. I don't think it's pretty to witness. He should be attacking what has led the ACLU to take the actions they are taking now. Instead, he attacks the ACLU. Dershowitz has taken his ball and he's going home, kicking dirt the whole way.
