I truly believe this. How about $100.

But $100 may not be worth too much in 20 years :(

Considering the HOF is not the NBA HOF, it is pretty much a no-brainer that Yao will be inducted for his accomplishments in Asia. His NBA performance will be HOF caliber as well if he ever grows a pair.

OK, OK -- did everyone pay off on the tip jar bets from the playoffs?

I did, and I hope the jar was properly tipped. Dadburnit.

Why don't you put in $100 now, and if you win, I'll pay you back $200. ;)

hikanoo49 and Relativist -- why don't you each put in $100 and let Clutch hold the bets until then?;)

How old will Clutch be when Yao goes into the HOF? By that time, sports BBS might have already been obsolete.

If Yao Ming and Steve Francis both retired today then Yao would be a no brainer HOF'er and Steve would probably not even get considered. Yao Ming is already a lock for the HOF.

If you are still carrying this bet in 20 years, you'll have bigger issues.

Are you serious? I've never heard of any player being a HOF'er in just two years.

This thread is just, sigh, I don't want to be rude. But what's the point to discuss this? If he's a HOFer by the time, then he is. Nobody can predict the future and everybody loves to. Of course, no one can prove you are wrong. There is always possibility for the future. Just like you can claim that one day you will become another Bill Gates, and before the end of your days, nobody can prove you are wrong.

    HOF?
Is this how the saying goes? A trip of a thousand miles starts with a step. Like another poster said earlier, he's got to grow a pair first, then maybe, just maybe he can start that long journey into the sunset!!

As many posters have agreed w/ me, Yao is a LOCK for it. Sometimes, it goes beyond NBA stats to get inducted. Remember Drazen Petrovich on NJ, that guy is even a member. But I do believe that Yao will also be able to justify this with his play in the NBA one day as well. Or at least I remain hopeful of it.

But my post is to point out that we are witnessing history in the making. Not often do you get to see a Hall of Fame player. We are fortunate to have him on the Rox.

If you really think about it, there are only a small group of players in the NBA who will get this honor.

    FOR CERTAIN

    Shaq
    Kobe
    Malone
    Payton
    Duncan

    DECENT CHANCE

    Reggie Miller
    Kidd
    Joneal
    Iverson

    Possible

    Stoj
    Cweb
    Ray Allen
    Tmac
    Dirk
