So, in five games, Badman with 27 total boards and 3 blocks ranked top five?

Thanks. Thats how I thought it was over there. Everytime Badiane's name was brought up, and many said he sucks or was a wasted pick because he couldnt get significant playing time on some german pro team, I reasoned it was because of some situation like that.

Forgot they have not.....Patrick gives Malick a call about once a week to check-in and the Rockets have sent a scout to more than half his games this season.

    Game 1 of the semi-finals tonight....update later today/tomorrow.

o3gs, thanks so much for the update! It is very much appreciated. I would love to see him make the team. Clearly we need an athletic PF and I would love to see him eventually be a rotation contributor.

Looking forward to seeing him play next season. I hope Van Gundy is not too stubborn to play him. I would like to see Badiane and Boki both get some minutes off the bench next season to bring some energy onto the floor.

If you haven't already been to the skyliners team site, go here http://www.opel-skyliners.de/ . Click the english flag for translation. Some funny pictures of him in go-carts and a safety harness.

Game 1 is in the books, a 72-69 victory for the Skyliners over Bonn.

Malick played 23 minutes, grabbing 10 rebounds (4 offensive), scoring 6, while blocking one shot, and grabbing one steal.

Game two in this best-of-five series is Tuesday.

hey o3gs...thanks for the updates on badiane. you've been the only person who has given reliable info. just curious...what is the level of competition like that he plays against? are any of them nearly as energetic or athletic as badiane?

Thanks for the update o3gs. Although he won't be the answer, I hope he can turn into a Samuel Dalembert (spelling?) type player.

I can accept that, but there is quite a distance from the bottom rung to the top rung of your Delembert-KG ladder.

This was the first indicator during the Summer League games that I had how serious they were about this kid. He was Patrick's baby. Patrick was always giving him hints about what to do, how to dribble the ball (Badiane had a bad habit of cupping the ball undereath and turning the ball over with his hand as he tried to back defenders down), how to shoot, how to post, etc. Badiane listened to each and every bit of what Patrick had to say. None of this looking into the stands and smiling for the fans crap.

I didn't necessarily see the next Hakeem Olajuwon. I didn't see the next Alonzo Mourning. What I saw was somebody ready to work his ass off in whatever way was needed. I see so many people wanting an Eduardo Najera, Kurt Rambis, Rick Mahorn, type who is just a hard worker and not necessarily spectacular. Badiane is that hard worker, but with the flare for the spectacular. If he takes the floor in a Rockets uniform, he will become a fan favorite - guaranteed.

Keep in mind also that I think he's only around 20 years old and was turning heads when he was 19. He doesn't exactly come from the greatest of basketball training backgrounds.

I honestly hope the Rockets bring him in. If he's playing in the Summer Leagues, he's the kind of player I'd pay to watch play simply because he plays like it means something, and that's so damn different in this day and age.

    Sadly, no.

First, how many people even know for what team Dalembert plays? Second, propose a trade swapping Dalembert for K.G. and see what kind of responses you get. That should show you how many rungs down he is. And third, well, look:

Year Team GMs MPG FG% FT% 3PT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
    01-02 PHI 34 5.2 44.0 38.9 - 2.0 0.2 0.2 0.4 1.5
    CAREER 34 5.2 44.0 38.9 2.0 0.1 0.2 0.4 1.5

Year Team G Min FGM-A FTM-A 3PTM-A REB AS ST BK PTS
    01-02 PHI 34 178 22-50 7-18 0-0 68 5 6 13 51
    CAREER 34 178 22-50 7-18 0-0 68 5 6 13 51

So I hope the Badman has greater aspirations.

O, thanks for making my day. When you think we do not have draft pick, the rockets cannot afford to fool around. I cannot see how that fella is not on their agenda.
