I was taking about making Luka play defense when Clips are on offense, not choosing who to guard Luka when Mav are on offense. But it was point out to me that was apparently tried and failed in games 1 and 2 that I didn't get to see.
4th quarter woes are becoming normal for Luka. Maybe because he's still kinda doughy, maybe because he's doing way too much throughout the game, but he misses and makes bad decisions in the final minutes. He's the #1 contender for the title of future face of the NBA. Does it matter anymore where the face plays?
Luka had a pretty amazing game but he took 37 shots. Imagine if Harden ever took that many shoots, how the media would have trashed him for being a ball hog.
Maybe he is being overused. He played 42 minutes last night. And yes, he is still wearing a fat suit. If someone else (looking at you, Porzi) doesn't step up and the Mavs has to be a one-man show, then they won't go very far in the playoffs. Might not even get pass the Clippers. No one man can carry a team all the way to championship.
LeBron has been the only player in NBA history to average near triple-double numbers and win an championship. But he didn't really have to "carry" those teams. I want the Clippers to win badly. I am glad I went to bed early last night and didn't have to watch that choke job. I don't see them coming back, but it would be crazy if the series goes 7 and the Mavericks win 4 road playoff games in a single series.
Luka and this team reminds me of Harden and the Dwight-era Rockets. You have one guy that can do everything (Luka/Harden) and you have a big that should be playing well as the second option (Porzingis/Howard) but can't be consistent enough due to injuries. You then have a bunch of role players overachieving. It's only a matter of time things fall apart and you have to trade second option away.
U hate to see last decade's playoff heroes like Rondo & Leonard reverting to being mean, especially after such a small sample size.
Kawhi should have smacked him...although I get what Rondo was saying, that was a terrible shot. It was definitely one taken with Ego, they were down by one, 8 seconds left, they could have gotten something better than that.
As if Rondo didn't go 0-6 from the field with an airball. lol I am loving this implosion by the Clippers. I hope Kawhi and PG stays for a while because it could be a start of an annual tradition watching the Clippers implode in the postseason...well a continuation from the Cp3 era i guess.
That's not true at all. Show me one time Harden shot 37 times and scored 42 points and the media trashed him for being a ball hog. Luka scored 42 points while going to the line 3 times, which means he was simply getting buckets. Look, I used to think harden was much better than Luka as well, but now that I am no longer biased by Harden being on the Rockets, I recognize that Luka at 22 is twice the player that Harden was at 22, and honestly he is neck and neck with current Harden. He also seems to be much more clutch and comes up in big moments. Luka in 11 games already has had better playoff games that Harden has his whole career. Luka Doncic is actually FUN to watch. Would you rather watch a guy shoot FTs 20 times or a guy make a bunch of shots?
Harden score 45 points on 22 shots against the Golden State Warriors that won 67 games in the WCF when playing with a gimpy Howard. You want to know who else was on that team. Ariza, Jason Terry, Josh Smith, Terrance Jones, Corey Brewer and Pablo Prigioni. Tell me which one of these players are better than Luka's supporting cast?
You do realize that the Rockets were down 3-0 at the time and we all know the Warriors weren't really trying to win anymore right? They were content, as all teams that are 3-0 up, are. He had a better game in G2 of that series where he went for 38, 10, and 9 on 21 shots. At that point it was on the road and the Warriors were still definitely trying to win. That said, Luka's game yesterday is close to that Harden's game, and he got the win which should count for something. Point being that he is well ahead of Harden, and is trending to surpass Harden as he matures.
well he'll almost certainly surpass harden in the future. his trajectory is top 10 all-time at this point and only injury is going to stop it. it's no knock on harden that luka will be better. if he keeps going he will be better than anyone not named lebron from this generation. and yeah, that game 2 by harden is probably his best playoff game. on the road, #1 defense, 67 win opponent. top 30 game score of the entire decade in the playoffs (top 15 in the non-lebron category). unfortunately, he was +12 in the 41 minutes he played but the rockets somehow managed to be -13 in the 7 minutes he didn't play and lost by 1.
Terrible shot by Kawhi but I would rather him take the last shot than anyone else on that Clippers team.
I mean Kawhi obv isnt a leader and he is extremely brittle but the dude has always been a good player and individual contributor. That last year just hyped him up to be a face of a franchise when he is really an elite 2nd star type of guy. I never believed in the 1 shot bias 1 bad shot doesnt invalidate your entire game performance. That loss really isnt on Kawhi, lol Rondo blaming him like he didnt go 0-6, and 1 pt the entire game WTF!
I agree with you Luka is on track to surpass Harden but right now Harden is still the better player because he can do it both ends of the floor. Luka also has the privilege of getting coached by Carlisle, one of the best Xs and Os coach in the world. That helps a lot in making his plays a lot more varied and unpredictable. Lol dont even compare GSW to this Clippers team, thats like Jayz being compared to Soulja Boy.
you know both average the same number of FTAs and Harden's eFG% is 12 more than Luka this year right?
