I've thought the same myself, these numbers are just ridiculous (coming into the game tonight): RISP: 28 PA, .087 .214 .087 .301 RISP, 2 out: 15 PA, .077 .200 .077 .277
His weight didn't matter on that play. Losing weight might help his stamina though. However, on a ground ball to first a pitcher's immediate reaction is supposed to be RUN to cover. He froze and watched the play. Then when he saw Yuli fielded it he started running.
Lol @ Luis Garcia becoming a legitimately good major league starting pitcher. I remember well the discussions on this board circa 2018/19 about how sure, Luhnow is so great, but are we actually good at developing pitching in the minor leagues? Or do we just rely on big-ticket acquisitions and Strom? Turns out, that system we were kvetching about produced Javier, Urquidy, and Garcia, none of whom were on really anybody's radars in 2018, and now all of whom are putting up TOR numbers at the big league level. Pretty pretty good. It also shows you that despite our system not lighting up the internet magazines' top 100 lists, we still could continue to produce excellent pitching.
Santana is glad he was late getting over, would have been a bang-bang play and Garcia would have been in line to steamroll him into next week.
They showed pitchers available to pitch after Garcia....I’m saying no to him....no to the next one....no to the next one
...and you can add a 1-5 (0-2 w/2out) so far tonight. The only hit was the ball he forgot to cover 1st on.
He just got through their Murderer's Row...90 pitches...I'd send him back out if he says he wants the ball. Somebody has to be getting stretched out in the pen though.
Also shows why those top 100 lists and the obsessions some have with them and with farm rankings are a bit absurd.
So many DPs has this team historically struggled against Richards? Seem to recall him always having our number when he was with the Angels
Only player with a significant (more than 7 or so) number of PA is Altuve, who's a .300 hitter against him. For future reference, and I tend to check it before each game, if you go to espn's player page for a pitcher, click on "batter vs pitcher" and it gives you the breakdown for the opponent.
He's been good against us. Coming into tonight... 5-5, 16 appearances, 13 starts, 3.02 ERA, 1.195 WHIP
