    A's lose.

    Astros 1.5 games back

Amazing considering this disaster of a home stand after the series in Arlington....

Good win. The bullpen ERA this series must have been astronomical.

This bullpen situation is weird. Our starting depth has been tested, and turned out surprisingly good. I feel generally good handing the ball to:

    Greinke
    Framber
    McCullers
    Odorizzi
    L. Garcia
    Urquidy
    Javier

In the playoffs, that means 3 of those guys move to the pen. If you get Paredes right and Pressly is healthy, that’s not a bad place to be - maybe mix in a guy like Blake Taylor or Baez if he ever comes back.

Please God I hope you’re right. Our backup bats and offense has been super exciting.

Is there any team in baseball that has a more punchable-faced beat (off)-writer than Chandler Rome?

Yea, I've grown not to like him.

All of his reporting and interviews on radio seem whiny to me

Solid W today but Scrubb has to take his **** all over it.

Bullpen gave up 22 runs in 14 2/3 innings this weekend. That includes a 4ip 1er outing by Javier.

It's catastrophically bad. If swear if Dusty has the audacity to go out there again and b**** about the starters not going deep...

While a long shot, Verlander still thinks he could be back for BP duty late in the playoffs.

When McCullers is ready to return, do we send somebody to the BP or go to a 6 man (7 man if you include Javier as a tandem starter with Valdez) rotation for a while like SD wanted to do before their BP was overworked?

It seems like the SD BP and the Astros Starters would compliment each other well. A trade really could help both teams. A SD reliever or two for a innings eating Astro Starter?

Just move Garcia to the bullpen and problem solved once LMJ gets back.

Bring Solomon up and send Parades down.

If you need an emergency starter call Ivey back up.

Aside from Greinke, the Astros have absolutely 0 proven innings eating starters.

And there's no reason for SD to want any of our pitchers.

Other than that it's a great plan, Walter, it's a swiss ****ing watch.

In theory, how quickly can a starter return after a 3 IP (50-ish PC) relief appearance? Or 2 IP (35-ish PC)?

You'll have to ask the pitcher.

And also, do you want him to do it regularly? We saw how well that worked out for Devo's career.

Chris didn't make enough major league starts consecutively to be considered a starter.

Forget asking the pitcher, I'm asking about theory.

What did Eckersley do? (extreme example, I know, just asking)

Was it Archie Bradley or another kid, along with Devo a couple of years ago who popularized this?...;And everyone said that this is the change in how pitchers will be used?

Pitchers just don't do that anymore, unless you want an actual tandem....

So basically a relieving starter pitching multiple innings will need regular starter rest between appearances.... smh

Hopefully part of the BP's problem is "overuse"
