Kelly Olynyk is an expiring contract. He did nothing for this season except take playing time away from young players and he does nothing for the future. With that being said, he is my favorite player in the league and I hope he retires a Rocket.
Remember when every game seemed historically impossible but really happened. Harden, Hakeem, Sampson, & Moses.
I’m glad you mentioned this. I thought it was just me. Super annoying to have to reload the page to like or comment every time. Been happening over the last week or so. @Clutch
Remember when you were allowed to play defense in the nba? Travels were called except for Patrick (Ewing not Tillman) and the purchasing power of Chinese consumers had no affect at all on what an NBA GM could or would say?
I mean, he's playing terrible, but i wouldn't mind having Herro as our 2 w/ Cade at the 3 and KPj running point. Olynyk would have been part of the trade as well.
I think rockets should have tried to trade westbrook to Miami. He Fits their "culture" What's funny is the 2 teams that said hell no to Harden (Boston and miami) are going to go down in the first round.
Nah, otherwise, they would have been a historically good franchise absent Riley. They were mediocre franchise until he came along. Fans overrate the location, location only matters if the team is actually competently run, if it isn't, then players avoid the place like the plague...see the history of the Clippers during Sterling and the Knicks the past decade or so. Like...people act like Athletes can't live in these locations during the offseason and most of the year. They don't necessarily have to 'live' where they play and they (the big FAs anyway) make enough money to live in multiple places.
Sure. Pat riley is great. Unbelievable gm. He’s also greatly benefits from the heat being in Miami. Location absolutely matters even more so when’s it’s compounded by great tax’s and warm weather. The clippers are the lakers little brother, the Knicks play in the north east in cold weather with a terrible owner. the heat came in the league in 1987. Riley joined them in 95. That’s 8 years, as an expansion team- not sure what you expected them to do to establish a culture so soon?. Riley is a great mind and a great gm but put him in Indiana, Charlotte, Boston, Utah, and there’s a limit to how well his teams would be without the benefit of Miami and south beach. The heat may never have a gm as good as Riley but they will always be a destination because of weather, tax’s etc. that heat culture doesn’t have the same ring in Oklahoma City.
It matters but I think you're overrating how much it matters. It didn't matter that much to save the Knicks or the Clippers. We can't say it matters than say "The Knicks play in the cold north east." They play in New York. New York City. All these years no one said "Yeah, I'm going to the Clippers because of LA." It simply didn't happen. Them being a bad team made their location completely irrelevant to FAs...because as I've said, players can enjoy exciting seasons outside of the regular season. Players don't even always live in the city they play for. I don't know how well Riley would have done in any of those cities, but Lebron James could have easily had another star come to cleveland and it would have happened if Wade and Bosh and Riley didn't persuade him to come to Miami. Location is a small bonus, but the best thing to have on your team when attracting FAs is a history of competence and budding young stars on your team.
One of the reasons brown left Cleveland was because he couldn’t get anyone to come to Cleveland the 1st time. It was difficult he has said as much so I disagree completely. Before trying the Miami big 3 he wanted bosh in Cleveland, bosh declined. He wanted amare in Cleveland and ferry wouldn’t trade for him. The Knicks have terrible ownership and terrible management- that will kill any franchise regardless of the city. the clippers are a nothing burger in LA and for many years had a racist owner who was the elephant in the room around the nba for years. If your point is ownership matters- of course it does. The heat have always had pretty sound ownership. Locations 100% matter. Hard work, sound management and good ownership only matter so much. Riley is empowered by the bright lights of south beach. To his credit he’s a beautiful basketball mind but there’s a lot of organizations that have a “culture” Boston, Indiana, Toronto, Utah, Dallas, and they aren’t and won’t ever be destinations like Miami.
seriously - - at what point did Rox KNOW JEHj was O-U-T ? Because that goes a long way for me having a blame direction. Was the trade effected the best trade? Simmons, Lavert/Allen etc etc et alia? I dunno. I do know the timing made public equated to a screw-job. Without a kiss.
